Many shortcomings exist in the process of honoring and rewarding outstanding students.
(Baonghean.vn) - The regulation that only 15% of students should be recognized as outstanding workers at the grassroots level for a specialized school like Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School is inappropriate; honoring students who win national consolation prizes is not as important as honoring outstanding students at the provincial level; and awards are only focused on teachers who directly mentored the students and students who won prizes... These were some of the issues raised during the supervision of emulation and reward work by the Legal Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council at Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School on the morning of September 19th.
Representatives from the Department of Education and Training and the Provincial Emulation and Commendation Board participated in the monitoring process.

Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School is a school with a long tradition of excellent teaching and learning achievements. This achievement is due not only to the attention of the province and various levels and sectors, but also to the significant emphasis placed by the Party Committee and the School Board on emulation and reward programs.
This includes the school's proactive role in advising the province to issue Decision No. 91/2011/QD-UBND and Decision No. 47/2014/QD-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on the reward system for outstanding students and teachers; and Decision No. 09/2014/QD-UBND.VX on some preferential policies for Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School.

Each year, based on the guidelines from the education sector and the tasks for the school year, the school develops a plan to organize emulation movements within the school, especially the emulation of good teaching and good learning.
This is an important condition for Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School to maintain and promote its title of Hero of Labor; it is also the foundation for the school to register and strive to be awarded the Second Class Independence Medal in 2019.

During the meeting, the supervisory team noted and clarified several shortcomings in the awarding of commendations within the school. Specifically, the regulation stipulating that the number of outstanding workers at the grassroots level is equivalent to 15% of the number of advanced workers is inappropriate for a specialized school like Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

For students who received a national consolation prize but were not honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee, even though the national consolation prize was a significant achievement and their scores were almost on par with third place.
The awards are concentrated only on teachers who directly mentored the students and the students who won prizes, while the heads of subject departments and school administrators, who also made extremely important contributions, have not been rewarded. There is a delay in disbursing reward money to outstanding students and teachers who mentored students in national-level competitions; some students only received their awards nearly a year after starting university...
