Many infrastructure development projects are underway in the coastal areas of Nghe An province.
(Baonghean.vn) - Sustainable development of the marine economy is a major policy of Nghe An province aimed at exploiting the enormous potential and advantages of the coastal province, linking economic development with the protection of sovereignty. Among many solutions, infrastructure in Nghe An's coastal region is given special attention.
According to a report from Nghe An province, attracting investment in the development of port infrastructure has seen significant progress. The Southeast Economic Zone has attracted four investors in port infrastructure at the port area: Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company, Cua Lo Port Company Limited, Thien Minh Duc Group Joint Stock Company, and International Transport Development Investment Joint Stock Company. This has initially met the needs for transporting goods and raw materials to support production and business activities for enterprises and investors in the province.

Currently, Cua Lo Port Company Limited is developing berth No. 6 at Cua Lo Port; Nghe Tinh Port has opened an international container shipping route; Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company continues to invest in the remaining 3 general cargo berths at Vissai Port; International Transport Development Investment Joint Stock Company is developing a plan to implement Cua Lo Deepwater Port, expected to be completed in Q4/2025; and Thien Minh Duc Group Joint Stock Company is proposing to invest in berths No. 7 and 8 at Cua Lo Port.
The Dong Hoi specialized port area has completed the detailed planning of the Dong Hoi seaport with 19 berths serving the Dong Hoi Industrial Zone and surrounding areas, approved by Decision No. 838/QD of the Ministry of Transport dated April 28, 2011.
The Cua Hoi Bridge connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces was opened to traffic in March 2021. Nghe An province has also approved a list of projects under the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025, including: the coastal road project from Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa) to Cua Lo (Nghe An) with a capital of 3,400 billion VND; coastal infrastructure development projects in the Southeast Economic Zone with a capital of over 1,050 billion VND; the Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard project with a capital of 465 billion VND; and the construction of a seawater supply system for industrial shrimp farming according to VietGAP standards in Quynh Bang commune, Quynh Luu district with a capital of 43.5 billion VND…
The focus on developing the marine economy aims to concretize Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2018, of the 8th Conference of the Central Committee of the 12th Party Congress on the strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy until 2030, with a vision to 2045, in Nghe An province.
