To minimize damage to people and property, immediately after the storm passed, the Party Committee and local government of My Ly commune mobilized forces and coordinated with units stationed in the area to relocate people's belongings to safe places. However, due to the terrain, with over 98% being steep hills and mountains, arranging safe resettlement areas for the people remains a difficult problem to solve for a poor commune like My Ly.
Mr. La Van Chanh, Vice Chairman of the Ky Son District People's Committee, said: Currently, the district has directed the commune People's Committees to support affected households in overcoming the consequences. The district is providing initial support of 10 million VND to each household whose house was completely destroyed by landslides and swept away, to build temporary shelters.
However, these are only temporary solutions. In the long run, people want a safe resettlement area where they can quickly stabilize their lives and confidently engage in production and economic development.
