Vietnam General Department of Sea and Islands: Handing over a house of gratitude to a martyr's wife in Yen Thanh

On the morning of February 2, the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in coordination with Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, organized a ceremony to hand over a gratitude house to the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu in hamlet 12, Son Thanh commune.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu (born in 1950), is the wife of martyr Nguyen Hong Bien who died in the resistance war against the US to save the country. She has a son named Nguyen Huu Toi, who is currently an officer at the Center for Planning and Integrated Management of the Southern Coastal Region. She is now old and in poor health, having just suffered a stroke, and her children are working far away, living in a dilapidated level 4 house.

The Vietnam General Department of Seas and Islands has mobilized its staff to contribute and support 70 million VND to help her rebuild a solid and spacious house.

The house has an area of ​​nearly 70m2^2,Painted walls, tiled floors, and a closed sanitary system have been completed and put into use, with a total cost of over 200 million VND.

Nghe An Social Protection Center is nurturing and sponsoring 134 people in especially difficult circumstances across the province, including 17 people in Tan Ky.

Leaders and representatives of departments and branches of Tan Ky district also visited, presented gifts and wished a happy new year to the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Y - wife of a martyr in Quynh Luu hamlet, Tan An commune and the family of Mr. Truong Van Khuong - Agent Orange victim in Ke Nang hamlet, Nghia Phuc commune. The delegation presented gifts worth 1.2 million VND each to the families.

Here, the delegation presented 34 gifts to 34 policy families and poor households, one gift worth 500,000 VND in cash; presented 1 ton of rice to 40 poor and near-poor families, each household received 25 kg.

The gifts given, though small, have timely shared some of the difficulties with the poor, aiming to bring a warm spring, a meaningful Tet, contributing to bringing joy to people in difficult circumstances.

At the fundraising event, officials and civil servants donated one day's salary to each person, with a total amount of more than 4.5 million VND, equivalent to 35 health insurance cards for near-poor people.
