(Baonghean.vn) - To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2017), localities and units in Nghe An province have carried out practical activities to express their gratitude.

*On the evening of July 23rd,Thai Hoa Youth Union collaborated with the Veterans Association, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Town Cultural Center.Organizing a candle-lighting ceremony to honor fallen heroes and martyrs, and an art exchange event titled "Following in the Footsteps of Heroes" at the Martyrs' Cemetery in Thai Hoa Town.

At the ceremony, before the spirits of the heroic martyrs, the leaders of Thai Hoa Town and the town's youth reported on the results of implementing socio-economic development, security, and defense tasks in the past period. They also held a memorial ceremony, offered incense and flowers, and lit hundreds of candles before the 238 graves of the heroic martyrs and the memorial monument.

Following the candle-lighting ceremony was an art exchange program themed "Following in the Footsteps of Heroes," featuring songs about mothers, soldiers, and young female volunteers, performed by amateur actors with heartfelt gratitude.

In particular, the program also includes opportunities to interact, meet, and chat with Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and veterans, listening to their shared thoughts, feelings, and stories about battles from the past.

On this occasion, the youth of Thai Hoa town and various organizations throughout the town presented 20 gifts to 20 individuals, including relatives of martyrs, families of policy beneficiaries, and meritorious individuals facing difficult circumstances in the area. The total value was 14 million VND.

*Acting on behalf of the President, the leadersNghi Loc District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front CommitteeThe State awarded the honorary title "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" to the relatives of two mothers: Nguyen Thi Cham in Nghi Phong commune and Nguyen Thi Minh in Nghi Khanh commune; and presented the Third-Class Independence Order to the family of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoan and Mrs. Hoang Thi Huyen in Nghi Hop commune, whose three martyrs sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

At the ceremony, the leaders of Nghi Loc district expressed the profound gratitude of the Party Committee and the people of the district for the great contributions, sacrifices, and losses of the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and the families of martyrs. They urged Party committees, government agencies, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, families, and individuals to implement more specific and practical policies, solutions, and actions to better care for the material and spiritual lives of policy beneficiaries and those who have contributed to the revolution.

Offering fresh flowers and fragrant incense to the spirits of the heroic martyrs, the comrades and officials of the Party Committee of the Bloc expressed their profound respect and boundless gratitude for the immense contributions of the heroic martyrs who selflessly sacrificed their youth and lives with the spirit of "fighting to the death for the Fatherland" to defend the Fatherland and for the noble cause of international affairs.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to educate future generations of officers and soldiers about the traditions and historical significance of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, and the immense sacrifices made by all sectors of the population, cadres, and soldiers of the armed forces, thereby fostering a stronger bond between the unit and the local people.

On this occasion, the unit presented 7 gifts, each worth 400,000 VND, to wounded soldiers and children of martyrs currently working at the unit, and 5 gifts to relatives of wounded soldiers, martyrs, and meritorious individuals in the area. The unit also sent military medical personnel to directly examine the relatives and families of martyrs.

*A delegation of officers and soldiers from Military Hospital 4.The delegation, led by Colonel Tran Minh Tuan, Political Commissar of the Hospital, offered incense and laid wreaths in commemoration of the fallen youth volunteers who sacrificed their lives to build the legendary Truong Son Road.

In front of the memorial, the resting place of the young female volunteers at Dong Loc Crossroads, the delegation expressed their gratitude to the heroic young volunteer martyrs who sacrificed their youth and blood for the cause of fighting for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
