(Baonghean.vn) - On December 21, many localities, agencies and units organized charity activities, giving gifts to veterans, poor households, poor students and Catholics in the province.

*On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2018), Quynh Luu district organized 4 delegations to visit and present gifts to 10 families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families of war invalids and families of policy beneficiaries in difficult circumstances in the district.

*At Ky Son, Viettel Nghe An Trade Union (Military Industry - Telecommunications Group - Viettel) organized the program "Connecting love", giving gifts to poor households and students in Muong Ai commune, Ky Son district and Muong Ai Border Post (Nghe An Border Guard).

Muong Ai Commune has just suffered heavy losses in terms of human lives and property due to two historic floods; traffic routes have been cut off for months, making life, work, study and daily activities of the people very difficult.

In order to share the difficulties with the people, the program "Connecting love" has given 80 cash gifts to poor students (each gift worth 500,000 VND), 10 cash gifts to teachers (each gift worth 1 million VND) and given Muong Ai Medical Station 2 blood pressure monitors, 150 warm blankets, 2,000 sets of warm clothes; gave Muong Ai Border Post 1 projector for work; the total value of the gifts is 300 million VND.

The program "Connecting love" organized by Viettel Nghe An contributes to helping the poor commune of Muong Ai, the flood-hit area, overcome difficulties and improve their lives.

*Association of War Veterans of Quy Hop districtheld the inauguration ceremony and handed over 2 gratitude houses to 2 members, war veteran Lu Van Vien in Cut hamlet (Chau Loc) and war veteran Le Van Tiep in Moi village (Chau Tien).

Two veterans, Lu Van Vien and Le Van Tiep, participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Both veterans' families are poor and have extremely difficult circumstances, and do not have the means to build new houses. In order to share the difficulties with the members' families, the Veterans Association of Quy Hop district has mobilized benefactors to support 100 million VND to build two gratitude houses for the two men.

After nearly 3 months of construction, the 2 houses were completed, with the total construction cost of each house ranging from 80 to 100 million VND (of which, the association mobilized businesses to support each house with 50 million VND, the rest was the help of working days from the Association of War Veterans of Chau Loc and Chau Tien communes and relatives of the families of the 2 war veterans).

*Provincial Veterans Association in coordination with Nghi Loc District Veterans AssociationOrganize the donation of wheelchairs to wounded and sick soldiers in especially difficult circumstances in the district.

Here, 25 veterans in difficult circumstances were given wheelchairs. The total value of the gifts given this time is 75 million VND.

This is a meaningful activity to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, helping veterans have means of transportation, making it more convenient for them to live, work, and improve their lives.
