Many universities issue urgent notices regarding strange invitations
Many universities in Ho Chi Minh City have issued notices warning parents and students not to fall into the traps of scammers.
On December 23, Ho Chi Minh City Police said that professional departments are clarifying the case of many universities in the area being impersonated to send out notices and invitations to exchanges.
Police said that the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has just issued a warning about fake and fraudulent information.
Previously, an invitation to an international student exchange meeting that was circulated inviting students to participate in the event was identified as a fake invitation.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology has clarified that the form of fraud in the form of announcing that students have won scholarships and asking students to pay a fee to be considered for approval has been quite common recently.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology confirms that it will not issue any announcement or organize any international exchange meeting at the school on December 14, 2024 as mentioned in the invitation.
The University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) also issued a warning notice to parents and students. According to the school, some new fraud methods have recently appeared targeting parents, students, and pupils who wish to study abroad.
The subjects will call the victim by phone, then will contact directly as in writing. These programs require participants to pay a fee ranging from several tens of millions to several hundreds of millions of VND to participate. Many people have been scammed, including a university student who was scammed out of 150 million VND.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry also issued a similar warning. Accordingly, a notice appeared with the content "Congratulations to students who are eligible to enroll in the international student exchange program in Japan". This notice also clearly stated the scholarship amount including tuition and living expenses up to 100%.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry affirms that it did not issue a notice of the meeting program. Organizations and individuals taking advantage of the school's brand and image to conduct illegal content activities violate the law and do not have the written consent of the school.
Ho Chi Minh City Police advise people to be cautious with information spread on social networks. When receiving information, they need to research carefully, do not follow the suggestions of strangers, do not exchange personal information, passwords, bank OTP codes... with strangers, including those who claim to be bank employees, police officers, prosecutors./.
