(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the influence of the remnants of Typhoon No. 3, heavy rains lasting for many days have caused water levels to rise in rivers and streams in the upper reaches of the Lam River basin. In addition to causing damage to houses and property, the floods have also caused landslides and degraded many roads in the border district of Ky Son.

Located right next to the Nam Mo River, the only road connecting the center of Muong Xen town to the centers of Muong Tip and Muong Ai communes, with a total length of 38 km, has been severely damaged, with more than half of the road surface and foundation washed away by floodwaters, creating deep ravines.

Flooding on the Nam Non River also caused landslides on the inter-village road from the center of My Ly commune to Xop Duong and Cha Nga villages.

The road, which had been in a state of disrepair for many years, was almost completely destroyed after the heavy rains caused by typhoon number 3, creating significant difficulties for commuters and greatly impacting the lives of more than 1,500 households in the three communes of Ta Ca, Muong Tip, and Muong Ai.

Floodwaters have eroded many inter-communal roads, posing a danger to people and vehicles using them.

The rain caused a large amount of soil and rocks to slide down the Western Nghe An road, specifically the section passing through Huoi Tu commune.

According to statistics from the Ky Son District Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command, Typhoon No. 3 caused landslides and damaged most inter-commune and inter-village roads throughout the district, especially those leading to the centers of remote and isolated communes. Mr. Phan Sy Thang, Chief of the Ky Son District People's Committee Office, said that the most severely affected route was Muong Xen – Muong Tip – Ta Do – Muong Ai, followed by Huoi Tu – Na Loi – Keng Du and Huu Lap – Bao Nam.

Floodwaters have cut off several villages along the banks of the Nam Non River.

Many bridges, culverts, and transportation infrastructure in Ky Son district were also damaged by the floods.

Due to prolonged heavy rain and saturated soil, the risk of landslides and road degradation in Ky Son remains high. The district and relevant commune authorities have made efforts to address and clear blockages to facilitate temporary travel for residents, but they continue to monitor critical areas to promptly resolve any unforeseen issues.
