Many high-riding SUVs are seeing massive price reductions.

The Vietnamese automotive market is experiencing a significant decline in sales, and the SUV segment is no exception. This is why the prices of most SUVs have plummeted to rock bottom in May, including those that were once very popular and often sold with bundled extras.

The older Mercedes-Benz GLC model is discounted by up to 317 million VND.

The 2022 model comes in three options: GLC 200, GLC 200 4Matic, and GLC 300 4Matic, with listed prices ranging from 1.909 to 2.639 billion VND, equivalent to a discount of approximately 229 to 317 million VND depending on the registration area.

The new 2023 generation was launched at the beginning of May with two versions, the GLC 200 4Matic and GLC 300 4Matic, priced at VND 2.299 billion and VND 2.799 billion respectively, an increase of VND 110-160 million compared to the previous generation.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC is equipped with a Mild-Hybrid engine, featuring a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine as the main component and a 48V motor for starter support, delivering a maximum power of 204 horsepower and a maximum torque of 320 Nm in the GLC 200 version, and 258 horsepower and 400 Nm in the GLC 300 version. Both versions use a 9-speed automatic transmission, controlled by an electronic gear selector and paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

Having caused a sensation in the market from late 2021 to the first half of 2022 with price differences sometimes reaching 150 million VND, the Hyundai Santa Fe has been selling poorly for many months now. Sales in April 2023 only reached 364 units, a decrease of 29.2% compared to the previous month's 514 units and a decrease of 49% compared to the same period last year's 714 units.

In an effort to clear inventory and improve sales in early May, some dealerships are offering discounts of up to 190 million VND on Hyundai Santa Fe models with 2022 VIN numbers, not including valuable gifts. Newer 2023 models are also being discounted by 90-110 million VND.

In Vietnam, the Hyundai Santa Fe is sold in 6 versions (petrol and diesel), with prices ranging from 1.055 billion VND to 1.375 billion VND. The Hyundai Santa Fe offers two engine options: petrol and diesel. The SmartStream G2.5 petrol engine features MPi point injection, a 2.5L displacement, and delivers a maximum power of 180 horsepower and a maximum torque of 232 Nm.

All gasoline engine versions of the Hyundai SantaFe share the same 6-speed automatic transmission and FWD system. The 2.2L SmartStream D2.2 diesel engine delivers a maximum power of 202 horsepower and a maximum torque of 440Nm, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and HTRAC all-wheel drive system.

Toyota Fortuner's price drops by 140 million VND.

Toyota Fortuner has not been in short supply recently, but it's rarely offered with promotions. However, in the last two months, the surplus stock from the previous year has led many dealerships to drastically reduce prices for this model to attract customers.

From the beginning of May, this popular 7-seater SUV model has been subject to a discount of 120-140 million VND, applicable only to vehicles with VIN numbers from 2022. The Fortuner Legender 2.4L version has the highest discount, 140 million VND, bringing the listed price down from 1.259 billion VND to just over 1.19 billion VND.

The Fortuner is currently the third best-selling vehicle in its segment, after the Hyundai Santa Fe and Ford Everest. In April 2023, sales of this model reached 306 units, a decrease of 76 units compared to the previous month.

The Toyota Fortuner comes in 7 variants and uses 3 types of engines, both gasoline and diesel.

In May, Thaco continued its promotional program with discounts of up to 110 million VND depending on the version. Accordingly, the Luxury and Premium versions of this model received a discount of 95 million VND. The Premium AWD-6S version received a discount of 100 million VND, while the Premium AWD version had the highest discount, up to 110 million VND.

After the promotional offer, the price of the Mazda CX-8 now ranges from 984 million to 1.169 billion VND, depending on the version. This is the biggest price reduction for the Mazda CX-8 so far this year.

Mazda CX-8's April sales reached only 180 units, significantly lower than competitors like the Hyundai SantaFe (364 units) and higher than the KIA Sorento (150 units). This sharp decline promises to boost sales in May.

In the Vietnamese market, the Mazda CX-8 is only sold with a single naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G gasoline engine option with a 2.5L cylinder capacity. This engine produces 188 horsepower at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 252 Nm at 4000 rpm.

Ford Everest price reduced by 100 million VND.

In May, the new 2023 Ford Everest Wildtrak was launched but didn't attract much customer interest. Therefore, the top-of-the-line version of this SUV recently received a cash discount of 50 million VND. After the discount, the actual selling price of the Everest Wildtrak has been reduced to just 1.449 billion VND.

Specifically, the remaining 2022 Ford Everest at dealerships is being offered with a cash discount of up to 100 million VND. The majority of these remaining vehicles are the Titanium versions, both 4x2 and 4x4. This discount brings the actual selling price of the 2022 Ford Everest down to 1.163 - 1.319 billion VND.

The 2022 Ford Everest SUV, which caused a sensation last July with a price difference of up to 100 million VND, has since seen significant price reductions. Sales in April reached 754 units, leading the SUV segment in Vietnam.
