With that objective in mind, coupled with a superior squad and the support of the home crowd, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players quickly imposed their style of play, despite making several adjustments compared to their 4-1 victory against Timor Leste in the previous match. In the 10th minute, the home team opened the scoring after a penalty kick by Duc Chinh. Prior to that, the score was 1-0.Lam Thuan made a breakthrough from the right wing, forcing defender Ebarle to commit a foul inside the penalty area.

However, the early goal caused some Vietnamese players, especially the defenders, to become complacent. In the 19th minute, Winhoffer broke through on the right wing, dribbling past three white-shirted defenders before beating goalkeeper Sy Huy to equalize. About six minutes later, Borlongan dribbled from the right wing and passed the ball across to Miyagi, who comfortably tapped it in, giving the Philippines a 2-1 lead. Fortunately for Vietnam, their attack didn't perform too badly in this match. In the 28th minute, Tuan Anh managed to tap the ball in from about 5 meters to equalize 2-2, after a coordinated free-kick by his teammates.

After the break, Vietnam continued to dominate the game. Duc Chinh had two good scoring opportunities in the first 15 minutes, but his finishing was inaccurate. It was only thanks to a penalty in the 61st minute that the home team could make a difference. In this situation, Duc Chinh broke through, leaving the opponent vulnerable.Defender Ebarle must commit a foul inside the penalty area.Tran Thanh beat the opposing goalkeeper, putting Vietnam ahead once again.About a minute later, the gap widened.Duc Chinh increased his lead to two goals after beating goalkeeper Asong to put the ball into an empty net.

However, that wasn't the end of the story. The Vietnamese defense capped off a forgettable match with an own goal by Ngoc Bao in the 90th minute while attempting to clear a cross from the left wing.Nevertheless, the 4-3 result was enough to help the home team reclaim the top spot with seven points, securing their place in the next round. Currently, only Malaysia has the potential to overtake Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team in Group A, as they still have one game in hand.
