With that goal, combined with the superior squad and the support of home fans, coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players quickly imposed their playing style despite having to make many adjustments compared to the 4-1 victory over Timor Leste in the previous match. In the 10th minute, the score was opened for the home team after Duc Chinh's penalty kick. Before thatLam Thuan broke through from the right wing, forcing defender Ebarle to commit a foul in the penalty area.

However, the early goal made some Vietnamese players, especially the defense, play complacently. In the 19th minute, Winhoffer broke through on the right wing, past three white shirts, and then defeated goalkeeper Sy Huy to equalize the score. About six minutes later, Borlongan dribbled from the right wing and passed the ball to Miyagi, who comfortably tapped the ball in, helping the Philippines take the lead 2-1. Luckily for Vietnam, the offense did not play too badly in this match. In the 28th minute, Tuan Anh promptly tapped the ball from about 5 meters to equalize 2-2, after a free kick combination from his teammates.

After the break, Vietnam still dominated the game. Duc Chinh was given two good chances in the first 15 minutes, but his shots were inaccurate. It was only thanks to a penalty in the 61st minute that the home team could make a difference. In this situation, Duc Chinh was the one who broke free, causingdefender Ebarle committed a foul in the penalty area.Tran Thanh beat the away team's goalkeeper, putting Vietnam ahead again.About a minute later the gap was closed.Duc Chinh increased the score to two goals, after passing goalkeeper Asong to put the ball into an empty net.

However, that was not the end. The Vietnamese defense ended a match to forget, with Ngoc Bao's own goal in the 90th minute while running back to clear a cross from the left wing. However, the 4-3 result was enough to help the home team return to the top position with seven points, ensuring a ticket to the next round. Currently, only Malaysia is capable of taking the position of coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team in Group A, as they still have one match left to play.
