After a period of deploying forces to areas where dog thefts often occur to grasp the situation and check for suspicious subjects. With sharp professional measures, criminal detectives (provincial police) discovered a group of subjects specializing in organizing dog theft with extremely sophisticated methods and tricks.
They are composed of subjects from different communes in Yen Thanh district, gathered in a group, under the control of the main subject in the role of "dog buyer" to commit the crime. Accordingly, they often form groups of two subjects following the route and are fully equipped with electric dog fishing rods, dog bags and weapons to fight back when discovered.

Through monitoring the movements of the subjects, at about 9:00 p.m. on September 9, the working group of team 4 caught two subjects red-handed stealing dogs.
Through quick investigation, the subjects confessed to being Nguyen Duy Trung (born in 1993) residing in Hamlet 3, Tang Thanh Commune, and Hoang Dinh Nghia (born in 1993) residing in Van Thanh Hamlet, Long Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh). Afterwards, the task force arrested Tran Dinh Thanh (born in 1992) residing in Tay Ho Hamlet, Nam Thanh Commune, the same district, also for stealing dogs.
Through the struggle and expansion, that same night, the working group continued to arrest and search the residence of Nguyen Van Tiep (born 1980) in hamlet 19, Son Thanh commune, who was the direct consumer of the stolen dogs and also the subject who let his accomplices hide the means to "practice dog theft".
The authorities seized 5 dogs weighing nearly 80 kg, 2 iron cages used to lock dogs, 2 electric shockers used to catch dogs, 1 battery charger, 2 swords about 90 cm long, 2 beer bottles, 1 iron tube about 1 meter long, 1 scale and 2 bags containing old clothes. In addition, the authorities also seized a motorbike with a fake license plate related to the case, 7,500,000 VND and a notebook containing information suspected to be related to the theft and consumption of dogs. |
Beware of the tricks of "dog thieves"
After being arrested, the subjects, along with the exhibits and vehicles, were brought to the headquarters of the Provincial Police Department of Investigation to investigate and clarify the case.
According to the confessions of Trung and Nghia, at around 6:00 p.m. on September 9, Trung drove a motorbike to pick up Nghia at his house in Long Thanh commune. After that, the two men ran through Son Thanh commune and stopped at Tiep's house to get an electric fishing rod that was already equipped with a battery, a transformer attached to a fishing rod about 1.2 m long with a noose at the end, hidden in Tiep's kitchen. At the same time, they went around to the back of the house to take out dirty clothes from a sack to change into. They also did not forget to bring an iron tube and two green Saigon beer bottles in case they were discovered by the masses or the authorities to fight back and escape.

Trung then drove a car with a fake license plate along the roads in the communes in the area to catch dogs. At 9 p.m. the same day, after catching 3 dogs in the communes of Van Thanh, Phuc Thanh and Son Thanh, they brought the "spoils of war" back to hide at Tiep's house.
Next, the two subjects drove to the intersection in Cong Thanh commune to buy heroin for use, and on the way back, they also caught another dog. When they returned to Tiep's house to hide their tools, change clothes, and weigh the stolen dogs to sell, they were caught red-handed.

Evidence of the case |
At the Provincial Police Department, the suspects confessed that in addition to Trung and Nghia, Thanh and another suspect also frequently came to Tiep's house to get the tools that had been prepared to steal dogs to sell to this suspect. To deceive the authorities, in addition to wearing fake license plates, they changed into dirty clothes and hid the dog-stealing equipment at Tiep's house. After stealing the dogs, they were taken to another house to hide them before being taken out to sell.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department (Provincial Police) is consolidating the case file to prosecute the case, prosecute the defendants for property theft, and at the same time fight and expand to capture the remaining subjects in this professional dog theft ring.
