Leading stocks surged, VN-Index rose nearly 30 points.
The surge in blue-chip stocks after the correction became the main driving force, helping the VN-Index rise by nearly 30 points at one point and break through the resistance zone of 1,820 - 1,830 points.
Opening the trading session on the morning of June 18th, capital continued to flow strongly into large-cap stocks, helping the VN-Index maintain its upward momentum despite the market breadth not being truly positive. The most prominent driving force behind the increase came from Vingroup stocks after the sharp correction in the previous session.
In particular, VHM and VRE both surged to their ceiling prices of 144,400 VND and 30,100 VND per share respectively, VIC increased by approximately 6.5%, and VPL also recorded a gain of over 2%. The Vingroup group of stocks alone contributed more than 30 points to the VN-Index's rise.
Conversely, the banking sector and VJC shares faced downward pressure after supporting the market on June 17th. However, strong momentum from the Vingroup group was enough to help the index rise by more than 27 points at one point, breaking through the resistance zone of 1,820 - 1,830 points.
In the real estate sector, gains were recorded at VIC (+6.51%), VHM (+6.96%), VRE (+6.93%), NVL (-1.12%), PDR (-0.66%), TCH (-0.33%), and VPI (-0.66%). The banking sector also saw gains at VPB (-0.57%), TCB (-0.85%), TPB (-0.91%), VCB (-0.32%), HDB (-0.4%), and ACB (+2.27%).
Differentiation occurred in the financial services group, with SSI (+0.72%), VIX (+0.28%), VCI (+1.42%), HCM (+3.64%), VCK (+0.44%), and FTS (+1.48%). Similarly, in the chemical group, DCM (+0.55%), GVR (+0.42%), PHR (+0.15%), VTZ (+0.49%), and DPM (+0.21%).
At the close of this morning's trading session, the VN-Index rose 29.22 points to 1,835.42 points (+1.62%) compared to the previous session. Similarly, the UPCo M-Index increased by 128.45 points (+1.09%), equivalent to 1.38 points, and the HNX-Index increased by 335.24 points (+1.53%), equivalent to 5.04 points.
Market liquidity reached VND 8,346.15 billion, with 270,000 shares traded. Across the sector, 103 stocks increased, 154 decreased, and 82 fell to their reference price.
According to experts at AIS Securities Company, the VN-Index experienced significant fluctuations around the 1800-point mark, reflecting cautious investor sentiment at this level. Trading volume increased slightly compared to the average of the last 20 trading sessions, indicating signs of improved capital flow.
In the near future, if the VN-Index fails to break through the resistance zone of 1,835 - 1,840 points (20-day and 50-day moving averages), the downtrend that began in late May 2026 will not be over.
Currently, investors still prefer to hold or/and disburse a moderate proportion (around 15%) to test the waters during short-term rebounds and recovery periods.
According to experts at SHS Securities Company, the VN-Index has not yet broken out of the downtrend, fluctuating and consolidating within a narrow range under the influence of large-cap stocks.
However, market quality continues to improve, with many stocks breaking out of short-term downtrends and entering a recovery phase.
This opens up new growth prospects with many good short-term profit opportunities, characterized by a rotational recovery in many stocks that have undergone a period of positive correction and accumulation.
Investors may consider investment opportunities in leading growth companies that are currently trading at relatively reasonable prices. However, risk management is crucial, and these opportunities should only be considered during market corrections.
