A gang of thieves specializing in stealing car mirrors has been caught.

In one day, Cuong and Phuc committed five car mirror thefts in Hanoi, selling them cheaply to dealers.

On April 22, the Hanoi Criminal Police Department announced that it is temporarily detaining 10 suspects in connection with a series of thefts and the sale of automobile parts.

In just two days, April 18th and 20th, Nguyen Manh Cuong (27 years old) and Nguyen Van Phuc (39 years old), both with prior convictions related to theft and the illegal buying, selling, and use of narcotics, committed five thefts of car mirrors and parts. Among these were the theft of a Toyota Camry mirror in Lai Thuong commune (Thach That district) and the theft of a Mercedes mirror in Son Tay town.

Evidence seized in the case.

Another group, consisting of Tran Van Dinh (24 years old), Vi Thi Dung (21 years old, Dinh's girlfriend), and Doan Van Quan (31 years old), stole two rearview mirrors from a Fortuner, worth over 15 million VND. Quan alone committed four other thefts, stealing seven mirrors of various types.

According to the police, after stealing car mirrors, the thieves would sell them to Nguyen Manh Duc (47 years old) and Le Thi Nhuong (28 years old), the owners of an auto parts store in Mai Dong ward, Hoang Mai district. Duc was trusted by the thieves, who asked for his phone number so they could bring him goods to sell.

Before buying, Duc and his wife would meticulously inquire about the time and location of the crime so they could later resell the stolen items to the victims when they came to the flea market to buy them back. Police say Duc personally loitered around the market looking for people buying stolen car parts. If he found the right owner, Duc would offer a very high price.

Police have seized more than 40 car parts, mirrors, and various tools used in the crime, such as wire cutters, wrenches, and knives.
