The group involved in the buying and selling of over 8.4 billion user emails worldwide obtained the data.
The Tuyen Quang Provincial Police have just prosecuted three individuals for buying and selling over 8.4 billion email addresses of users worldwide. They illegally accessed and collected this information to sell to other parties, earning hundreds of millions of dong in profit.
Recently, through intelligence gathering, the Criminal Police Department of Tuyen Quang Provincial Police discovered a group of organized individuals who were exploiting cyberspace to illegally access other people's emails for illicit gain.

The perpetrators' modus operandi involves contacting foreign individuals via Telegram to buy and sell leaked email information, including usernames and passwords, that were obtained through cyberattacks.
Subsequently, they use software with automated features to illegally access these emails in order to collect and analyze information and resell it to individuals online for illicit profit.

Based on the verification results, on January 30, 2026, the Investigation Police Department of Tuyen Quang province issued a decision to initiate a criminal case and prosecute three individuals: LVD, born in 2002, residing in Thanh Hoa province; DDD, born in 2001, residing in Gia Lai province; and Ng.TT, born in 2000, residing in Hanoi city, for the crime of illegally accessing the computer network, telecommunications network, or electronic devices of others, as stipulated in Article 289 of the Penal Code.
The investigation revealed that from 2024 to 2025, the suspects bought and sold over 8.4 billion user emails worldwide, illegally accessing and collecting information to sell to other parties, earning hundreds of millions of dong in profit.
Currently, the case is being further investigated to track down the remaining suspects and bring them to justice according to the law.
