Driven by a desire for a lavish lifestyle, three young thieves conspired to commit numerous motorcycle thefts, selling the stolen vehicles and dividing the proceeds. Two of them were subsequently apprehended by a task force from the Bắc Từ Liêm District Police (Hanoi).

On October 30th, the Investigation Police Department of Bac Tu Liem District (Hanoi) issued a decision to prosecute two individuals from a gang responsible for nearly a dozen motorcycle thefts in Hanoi: Nguyen Van Hung and Dao Van Kien (both born in 2007, residing in Kim Lu Commune, Soc Son District, Hanoi) for the crime of theft.

Earlier, at approximately 7:40 PM on October 19th, a patrol team from the Bac Tu Liem District Police was patrolling Xuan Dinh Ward when they spotted two young men riding a Honda Wave motorbike without license plates, exhibiting suspicious behavior. They proceeded to conduct an administrative check. As the patrol team approached, the two suspects suddenly accelerated in an attempt to flee, but the patrol team managed to apprehend them.

The suspects are Nguyen Van Hung and Dao Van Kien.

During the on-site investigation, the identities of the two suspects were determined to be Nguyen Van Hung and Dao Van Kien. Both confessed that they were on their way to find unattended motorbikes to steal when they were stopped for inspection.

At the police station, Nguyen Van Hung and Dao Van Kien confessed that due to a lack of money for entertainment, they had conspired to steal motorbikes in Hanoi to sell for money to spend.

To avoid detection, Kien removed the license plate from the motorbike and drove Nguyen Van Hung around the streets looking for unattended motorbikes to steal. When they spotted a "target," Kien parked the motorbike nearby, while Hung approached, connected the ignition wires to start the engine, and sped away. Using this method, Hung and Kien successfully stole two motorbikes, selling them for 14 million dong, which they then divided between themselves.

The evidence was seized by the police.

In addition, Hung confessed that he and Nguyen Cong Hoa, born in 2008, residing in Kim Lu, Soc Son, Hanoi, committed four motorcycle thefts in the Xuan Dinh ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi, selling the stolen motorcycles for nearly 25 million VND, which they then divided between themselves.

Preliminary asset valuation results indicate that the motorcycles stolen by Nguyen Van Hung and Dao Van Kien are worth approximately 66 million VND. Although Hung and Kien are both under 18 years old, their crimes are serious and repeated, so the Criminal Investigation Department of Bac Tu Liem District Police has decided to detain them and prosecute them for investigation and handling according to regulations. Nguyen Cong Hoa is currently at large and is being sought by Bac Tu Liem District Police, who are continuing to investigate and expand the case.
