Former Thai monk Wirapol Sukphol, 38, was accused of a range of wrongdoing, including computer crimes, fraud, money laundering and a lavish lifestyle. After the scandal broke in June 2013, Thai media reported that at least eight women claimed to have had sex with him.Wirapol.
Pra Wa, a 26-year-old female student from Nam Keing village, Si Sa Ket district, post on facebookmonk photoWirapolsleeping in her bed. Pra Wa also printed out a large photo and displayed it outside Wirapol's parents' house, claiming it was proof that they had had sex.
Suri Sukphol, Wirapol's younger brother, held a press conference in July 2013, saying that he was the one in the photo. Suri said he took Wirapol's old car and took Pra Wa to a resort in Si Sa Ket to have sex. Suri said he felt bad that his brother had been victimized and was willing to take any confrontation to prove his claim.

However, two months later, Suri denied being the person in the photo and admitted to lying to help her brother. Pra Wa removed the photo from Facebook after Wirapol paid her about $176,000.
Thai media also reported that Wirapol had an affair with a 25-year-old woman who lived near Wat Pa Khanti Tham monastery in Si Sa Ket and had a son with her. Wirapol brought her to Bangkok to avoid the incident being exposed.
Wirapol was also said to have been infatuated with a 27-year-old woman from Bann Tased village in Si Sa Ket, whom he named Kanya Wan Kan, implying that he wanted her close to him. Wirapol bought her a rubber plantation and built a luxurious house in Si Sa Ket, where he often visited his lover.
Wirapol's most outrageous alleged affair was with Salakjit "Ying" Apipat, who was just 13 when she met Wirapol in Nom Jan village in Si Sa Ket district in 2000. Ying, an orphan, lived with her grandmother and often came to clean her hut.Wirapol. Her grandmother, Phey Sihawong, has a crush on her.WirapolSo it was no surprise that the monk often came to the small wooden house of the grandmother and granddaughter to invite Ying to go out. "Hey, Ying, come with me, I'll buy you a gift," Mrs. Phey recalled his enticement.Wirapol.
Wirapol forced Ying to have sex with him and got her pregnant. To hide his actions, Wirapol moved the two of them to a rented house in Ubon Ratchathani. Wirapol occasionally visited in civilian clothes to hide his identity as a monk. He also showed indifference towards the child born to Ying.
However, Ying said that during this time she began to fall in love with Wirapol. "He cared for me and promised to return to secular life and we would live together as a family," she said.
When the police became suspicious of the house in Ubon Ratchathani, Wirapol became concerned and took the three of them to Bangkok, renting them an apartment. Wirapol never visited but sent money to support Ying and her mother, although it was not enough. About 12 months later, in 2003, Mrs Phey bought train tickets for the family to return to Nom Jan.
"I haven't spoken to him since we left Bangkok. He doesn't give Nom any money to support him or send him to school," Ying said sadly.
When Wirapol’s wealthy lifestyle was exposed in June 2013, Ying decided to break her decade-long silence and reveal her relationship with the monk and their son. She sued for $1.4 million in child support. “I don’t want to hurt Wirapol,” Ying said. “I just want him to come and see what he missed, see his son and take responsibility for him. He is a good boy and deserves better than I can give him,” Ying said in 2013.
In addition to his relationships with young girls, Wirapol is also accused of having a relationship with Onsa Yubram, a 46-year-old cleaner in Bangkok. "His voice was very beautiful, very attractive. He charmed us with his words," she said.
Onsa feelsWirapolbetrayal, but asserted that she had strong faith in Buddhism so this scandal could not break her faith.
“As a Buddhist, I can understand why this happens. In some ways, monks are just normal men with greed and desires,” she said. “Some are depraved, but that doesn’t mean all monks are bad.”
