The 'terrifying' bridges in Anh Son
(Baonghean.vn) - Anh Son district (Nghe An province) currently has over 30 pedestrian bridges that are severely damaged and degraded. This is a constant worry for the people, especially as the rainy season approaches.

| The Cay Chanh Bridge, spanning the Moc stream in Dinh Son commune, Anh Son district, was built in 1995. It is 15 meters long and just over 1.2 meters wide. The bridge's pillars are made of iron piles, and the bridge deck consists of makeshift concrete slabs joined together without railings. Below the bridge lies a 12-meter-deep ravine, making it a dangerous trap for anyone crossing. The lack of railings makes crossing extremely risky for locals, and numerous serious accidents have occurred. |

| The Dợn Bridge in Hamlet 9, Hội Sơn Commune, was built in 1980. It is only 70 cm wide and 30 meters long. After 35 years, the bridge has deteriorated, with rusted steel beams and falling railings. |

| The Khe Sung bridge across the Lam River in Hoi Son commune is 10 meters long and 3 meters wide. It is the main bridge used by the people of Hoi Son to transport agricultural products and for work. Built 30 years ago, it is now severely dilapidated, with cracked bridge abutments. |

| The bridge's surface is severely degraded, becoming muddy after every rain. The lack of railings also makes travel and the transportation of agricultural products difficult for the local people. |

| Mr. Nguyen Cong Thang, Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Anh Son District, said: "Most of the bridges mentioned above were built by local people through their own contributions a long time ago, so they are severely dilapidated, but people have had to use them for many years. This poses a danger, especially with the rainy season approaching." |
