Two days after the Vietnamese U23 team's triumph at the Asian football tournament, several stocks with connections on the stock market are also experiencing a storm. However, it seems only Chairman Hien is smiling, while everyone else is crying without tears.

On January 29th, two days after the U23 team's triumph at the Asian Championship, SHB shares (Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank), owned by Chairman Hien, continued their strong upward trend, reaching 13,300 VND/share (up 900 VND, +7.3%) with a record trading volume of 30,781,700 shares. This also marked the eighth consecutive day of gains for SHB shares.

In particular, compared to the end of 2017, SHB shares have been making a strong impression on the stock market in the past few weeks, rising from around 8,650 VND/share to 13,300 VND/share (a 53.7% increase).

Many investors jokingly attribute the recent surge in SHB's stock price to the success of the Vietnamese U23 team. A number of impressive players from the tournament, such as Ha Duc Chinh, Nguyen Quang Hai, Do Duy Manh, and Doan Van Hau, all come from clubs owned by Chairman Hien, such as Hanoi FC and SHB Da Nang.

However, this is probably only a small part of the reason for SHB's recent surge in stock prices. According to stock market investors, the recent improvement in SHB's performance may stem from expectations of positive business results in 2017 for the banking sector in general, as well as expectations of significant progress in handling bad debts. In addition, SHB recently decided to pay dividends, which also had a positive impact on the stock price.

Meanwhile, the club has also received significant media attention for its role in nurturing current U23 talents such as Luong Xuan Truong, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Nguyen Phong Hong Duy, Nguyen Van Toan, Vu Van Thanh... Notably, on stock market forums, many investors strongly supported the shares of Mr. Duc (HAG and HNG), but in today's trading session on January 29th, both of these stocks... fell to the floor price.

Specifically, HAG shares fell by 100 VND/share (-1.2%), to 8,300 VND/share with a trading volume of nearly 10.8 million shares. This was also the second consecutive day of decline for HAG shares. Similarly, HNG shares, owned by Mr. Duc, also fell by 230 VND/share (-2.5%), to 8,920 VND/share compared to the previous session, with a trading volume of nearly 4 million shares. This was also the second consecutive day of decline for HNG.

As for VJC (VietJet) shares, owned by billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, the stock experienced a significant surge today due to the bikini incident on January 27th. Specifically, during this morning's trading session (January 29th), the VJC stock price briefly rose to 198,000 VND/share.

However, the downward trend intensified towards the end of the morning session. By early afternoon, the decline in the "bikini" stock price had become even stronger. Evidence of this is that at 2:30 PM today, the price of each VJC share was only 189,000 VND/share, a decrease of 1,000 VND compared to the closing price of the morning session.

However, at the close of trading, VJC returned to 189,500 VND/share, a slight decrease of 500 VND/share compared to the previous session, with approximately 1.9 million shares traded. This was also the second consecutive session that VJC shares fell sharply, following the previous trading session on January 26th, when VJC dropped sharply by 9,500 VND, from 199,500 VND/share to 190,000 VND/share, with nearly 2.2 million units traded.

The reason for the sharp drop in VJC shares could be due to profit-taking pressure, or it could also be from information suggesting Vietjet may face severe penalties from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

Despite the sharp drop in Vietjet's stock price, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao has not fallen in the rankings. According to the latest Forbes announcement, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao still possesses a net worth of $3.3 billion, ranking 728th on the list of the world's richest people.
