Practical volunteer projects by the youth of Anh Son
(Baonghean.vn) - With the motto: "Every young person performs one volunteer activity, every Youth Union branch undertakes one practical project or task to participate in building new rural areas," after two months of implementation, the youth of Anh Son have demonstrated their youthful energy in each volunteer movement through practical actions aimed at the community, contributing to creating a meaningful summer.
With the energy and creativity of youth, a large number of young people from Tao Son commune, along with a team of volunteer students from Hanoi Law University, concreted 800 m² of the kindergarten's playground and excavated, leveled, and cleaned up four classrooms under construction, contributing over 200 man-days of labor. This is a very practical activity that kicks off a series of youth volunteer movements participating in building new rural areas in Tao Son commune during the summer of 2016.

Nguyen Van Duc, Secretary of the Tao Son Commune Youth Union, shared: "During the summer volunteer campaign, the youth of Tao Son commune also participated in projects such as clearing bricks at the commune's health station, leveling inter-commune roads; and cleaning and leveling the grounds of Huu Le communal house. Especially on July 27th, the Tao Son Commune Youth Union Executive Committee and the Student Volunteer Team organized activities such as caring for the martyrs' cemetery; visiting and giving gifts to three families of martyrs in the area; and participating in a candlelight vigil to show gratitude and remember the source of the water we drink."
Joining the enthusiastic emulation spirit of the youth throughout the district, the "Youth Road" project, with the participation of 350 youth union members from Tuong Son commune, the Volunteer Heart Club of the Anh Son District Youth Union, and soldiers from Regiment 335, left a deep impression on the people. In just one day, the youth union members participated in widening the road, leveling the ground, and excavating hundreds of cubic meters of earth and stone to build a rural road with a total length of over 1 km, and constructing a volleyball court for the parishioners of Hamlet 9.

Le Thi Giang, a member of the Youth Union's volunteer club in Anh Son district, shared: "As a youth union member, I am very enthusiastic about participating in this project. This is a meaningful activity that allows our young generation to play our role in socio-economic development and volunteer for the community."
To promote the pioneering and voluntary role of youth in participating in socio-economic development and contributing to the construction of new rural areas, the Anh Son District Youth Union Standing Committee issued Plan No. 15 KH/ĐTN on organizing the 2016 summer volunteer campaign in 46 localities. The focus was on volunteering in disadvantaged areas, remote regions, and key areas of new rural development, with effective, practical, safe, and sustainable projects tailored to the needs of each locality and unit.
During the 2016 summer volunteer campaign, youth union branches in Anh Son district completed 40 youth projects and activities, primarily focusing on: renovating and repairing rural roads; constructing and repairing village cultural centers, schools, and volleyball courts; building houses for needy families; caring for families entitled to preferential policies; dredging canals for agricultural production; and collecting waste for environmental sanitation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ha, Secretary of the Anh Son District Youth Union: "The 2016 summer youth volunteer campaign in Anh Son had a very unique mark. Instead of a grand, ostentatious launch, 100% of the youth union branches embarked on specific, meaningful activities. Each completed youth project had a strong impact on the community, and the image of the young volunteers in their green uniforms left a lasting impression on every road and every village. The results cannot be measured by specific numbers; the greatest achievement is the image and enthusiasm of the youth being recognized and appreciated by the people." |
