1. Parking at tourist attractions

If on a normal day, a motorbike parking ticket is only 5,000 VND, on Tet the price increases 2-3 times to 10,000-20,000 VND. For cars, the price can be up to 100,000 VND in the first 2 hours.

Mr. Hoa, who specializes in parking near Nguyen Hue Flower Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), said that during Tet, there are many visitors, so he can earn 2-3 million VND per day by parking for customers. This year, to have more income, he opened a new parking spot so that his income can increase 2-3 times.

2. Housekeeping, warehouse

During Tet, many high-income families often "look for someone to look after the house and take care of the children. Because the domestic helpers in their families often go back to their hometowns for Tet.

Ms. Hoa, in Tan Binh District (HCMC), said that this year she planned to return to her hometown for Tet, but seeing many families posting job postings looking for someone to look after their house for 5 days of Tet for 7 million VND, she decided to stay and earn extra income.

"Normally, I work as a maid and earn only 7 million VND a month, but now I don't do anything but stay home to look after the house for 5 days during Tet and still get that amount of money, so I'm taking advantage of staying to earn more money," said Ms. Hoa.

3. Selling "luck" at the beginning of the year

According to folk beliefs, salt, matches, and lighters are the most purchased items at the beginning of the year with the hope of bringing good fortune, luck, and money in the new year.

Ms. Oanh, who specializes in selling early-year goods, said that every year she earns several million dongs from selling salt and matches at the beginning of the year. Each package of lucky salt, weighing less than 1 tael, is put in a pretty red cloth bag or in a lucky money envelope by Ms. Oanh and sold for 10,000-25,000 dong.

This year, in addition to retail sales, Ms. Oanh has also sold thousands of bags to other business contacts. According to Ms. Oanh, a 1kg bag of salt can be divided into 15-20 small bags. Therefore, the profit earned from selling this New Year's gift package is sky-high while the buyers do not complain or bargain.

4. Pet care

During Tet, high-income families often travel or visit their grandparents, leaving their pets unattended. As a result, pet care services are always in high demand.

Most pet hotels in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City said that pet hotels are fully booked, with regular rooms ranging from 150,000 to 300,000 VND per day, and VIP rooms up to 600,000 VND, but they are all booked.

Tung, manager of a chain of pet hotels in Hanoi, said that the hotel he manages has nearly 30 rooms for dogs and cats, but they are all full. At this time, the hotel also refuses to accept pets over 10 kg because there is no more room.

This year's Tet holiday, his hotel accommodates 100 dogs and cats. The price for keeping dogs at his facility is 100,000-200,000 VND per day, depending on weight, including main and side meals, daily exercise. He charges an additional 30,000 VND per day of Tet.
