Services that sell out before Tet (Lunar New Year)

Laundry, cleaning, delivery, and transporting goods via passenger buses are among the services that are in high demand before Tet (Lunar New Year), with needs increasing 3-5 times compared to normal.

Shipping via passenger bus

As an online seller of specialty products, Ms. Ngoc (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi) usually receives her goods from producers in provinces and cities via passenger buses. However, for about a week now, her orders have been delayed by several days.

"Previously, they would send the goods in the morning, and I would receive them in the afternoon. However, recently, the shipping company said that with the high volume of customers and the large amount of goods being shipped, it sometimes takes several days to receive the goods, even if I pay double the price. Meanwhile, some of the goods are food items, so every time there's a delay, I feel like I'm sitting on a hot coals," Ms. Ngoc said.

Mr. Tien, a bus assistant on the Hanoi - Bac Giang route, said that not only the number of passengers but also the amount of goods sent via these routes is very high. "Customers are going home for Tet (Lunar New Year), so they usually bring a lot of goods. Therefore, we only dare to accept consigned goods when the bus is really empty," Mr. Tien said.

Delivery

Toan, a delivery driver, said that for about half a month now, the number of orders he has received has increased by approximately three times compared to normal. This doesn't even include the significant number of orders he has had to refuse.

"Getting around is also difficult due to traffic congestion. Even if I wanted to take on more orders, I couldn't deliver them all to customers on time. There are days when I have to deliver from early morning until 9 or 10 pm," Toản said.

Delivery services have also seen a recent surge in demand.

Many part-time delivery drivers are also overwhelmed with work. Nghiep, a student at the University of Electrical Engineering, said he's been taking on delivery jobs for about 10 days to earn extra income. He said he delivers about 10-15 orders a day, earning around 300,000 VND per day, mainly food and fashion items.

Cleaning services

Mr. Hao, the director of an industrial cleaning company, said that he had closed his books since the beginning of the month, around the 10th day of the 12th lunar month, because he could not find enough workers to fulfill individual orders and seasonal customers.

"I can only manage to serve regular customers with long-term contracts. I don't dare accept small or seasonal orders because it's difficult to find suitable suppliers."labor"Things aren't easy right now either. Labor costs have increased two to three times, so sometimes even if we take on extra orders, we don't make a profit," Mr. Hao said.

Mr. Phan Hong Minh, Director of HMC Clean House Service Development Joint Stock Company, also stated that customer demand has increased sharply in the past half month, causing the company to become overwhelmed. On some days, booking schedules from various organizations and families overlap, forcing the company to refuse orders.

Laundry service

Mr. Thanh, the owner of a laundry shop in Dong Xa, also said that the number of orders there has increased by about five times the usual amount. The washing machines at his facility are running at almost full capacity day and night to keep up with customer demand.

"Bedding, curtains, clothes, suits... everything is pouring in continuously. The closer it gets to Tet, the bigger the number of orders, so my shop will be working until the very last days," the shop owner said.
