Many people wear Buddha images on their wrists or bodies when entering bedrooms or bathrooms, or use Buddha statues for decoration, or step on Buddha statues to take photos… without realizing that they are sowing bad karma and may encounter many troubles in the future.

Recently, famous footballer Ronaldo posted a photo on social media of himself stepping on a Buddha statue with a morning blessing. After sharing, the photo received a lot of criticism from fans. Those unfamiliar with the subject thought that Buddhists are too strict and too fixated on outward appearances. However, even if we don't follow a religion, we should still respect what is symbolic.

Currently, many people (whether believers or not) wear images or statues of Buddha as jewelry. Many wear Buddha statues on their wrists or as necklaces hoping for divine protection. However, according to senior monks, this is disrespectful to Buddha. Because, according to Buddhist teachings, the human body is inherently impure, wearing Buddha images, especially in the bathroom or bedroom, is inadvisable.

To receive divine blessings, you must first have reverence. Wearing or using Buddha images or statues for decoration, or stepping on statues to take photos, etc., will sow bad seeds and reap bitter consequences in the future. This is called karma. Although invisible to the naked eye, you will clearly feel the impact of the law of karma later on.

Venerable Thich Chan Quang, abbot of Phat Quang Pagoda (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), said that sacred statues are only for worship and veneration, and should not be worn as jewelry or decoration. Doing so is an act of ignorance and sows bad karma, destroying one's connection with Buddhism. The Venerable said that one must show respect to deities and Buddhas in every word, action, and small gesture to receive blessings. Many families have experienced misfortune and bad luck simply because they placed Buddha images and statues in low-lying places.

Some people advise that if you still want to wear a Buddha image, you should remove it when coming into contact with unclean things or bathing and place it in a dignified, clean place. You should not keep Buddha images or statues in a cupboard or closed box, as this is considered disrespectful.

As our ancestors used to say, "Respecting traditions brings blessings, and observing taboos brings good fortune." There are certain taboos you must follow to bring luck and peace to yourself and your family. Don't let a lack of understanding affect your destiny.
