Supervolcano erupts

A supervolcano eruption could happen at any time, scientists predict. Some scientists even say that volcanoes are the greatest threat to human existence. An eruption of a supervolcano like Yellowstone in the US could create a nuclear winter with effects such as toxic ash obscuring the sun and a mini-ice age.

Some scientists fear that a supervolcano eruption could kill millions and devastate our planet. Active volcanoes considered dangerous include Yellowstone in the United States, Vesuvius in Campagnia, Italy, and Popocatepeti near Mexico City.

Earthquakes, tsunamis

Another threat that scientists unanimously agree is extremely dangerous is a massive earthquake – also known as the "Big One." Express quotes scientists as saying that an earthquake of magnitude 8 or greater could trigger a tsunami that could hit the west coast of the United States.
