With 80 members who are enthusiastic and dedicated students, the Voluntary Blood Donation Club of Nghe An University has maintained its activities for over 10 years, becoming one of the active forces connecting compassionate hearts ready to help patients in need of blood.

But"Ms. Ngo Thi The, born in 1972, needs to receive blood type B at the Friendship General Hospital of Nha Trang province!"
- "Okay, I'm on my way down to the gate now, I'll be there in 5 minutes."
This was a brief conversation between Phan Dinh Hung (born in 2006) - a student in the Business Administration class K11A1, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Nghe An University - and the Head of the university's Voluntary Blood Donation Club, upon receiving information about a case urgently needing blood.
For Hung, such calls and messages have become commonplace. When a patient needs blood, Hung and the club members will register to help themselves or quickly connect with and find a suitable donor, providing support to the best of their ability.
And after donating blood, the young man rarely keeps track of the names and information of those he has helped. For Hung, knowing that the patient is out of danger and that the blood donors arrived at the right time is enough.

Not content with just donating blood in emergencies, Hung actively participates in campaigning, connecting, and organizing blood donation programs at the school. From communicating and encouraging student participation to coordinating with various units and providing support on the day of the program, Hung is always ready to contribute wherever needed.
One of the programs that left a strong impression on Hung was the "Blood Donation Festival - Springtime Drops of Red," held on March 25, 2026, organized by the Volunteer Blood Donation Club of Nghe An University in collaboration with the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center of Nghe An province.
To prepare for the event, club members spent many days promoting and encouraging people to donate blood. As peak hours approached, the number of people registering to donate increased, requiring members to constantly coordinate and support each other from welcoming and guiding people to handling logistics. Despite the heavy workload and the fact that work hours were well past noon, everyone remained focused and proactively completed their assigned tasks.
As a result, the event received over 200 units of blood. After handing them over to the Provincial Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center, the participants continued to clean up the event area before leaving. These quiet acts of kindness contributed to ensuring the smooth running of the program and demonstrated the sense of responsibility and solidarity of young people participating in community service activities.

Initially, I simply thought this was a volunteer activity I participated in outside of school hours. But the longer I participated, the more I realized that behind a blood donation drive is not just a successfully organized program, but also units of blood that can reach those who truly need it. Sometimes, just spending time encouraging another person to donate blood, supporting a program, or helping someone overcome their shyness to volunteer—for me, those are beautiful memories of my youth.”
Hung shared
Hung's contributions to the voluntary blood donation campaign were recognized when, in January 2026, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Nghe An province awarded him a Certificate of Commendation for his outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation campaign in 2025. In the same year, he was also elected as the Vice Chairman of the Club by the members.

Not only is Hung actively involved in volunteer work, but he is also a student with impressive academic achievements. At the "NAU Business Arena 2026" student skills competition organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Nghe An University, Hung and his teammates went through five intense rounds of competition, testing their knowledge of economics, business administration, marketing, logistics, and social issues. Overcoming other teams, Hung and his teammates excellently won first prize.
In his twenties, Hung simultaneously took on many roles in his studies and volunteer work, but in every role, he maintained the selfless dedication of youth. Perhaps it is this selflessness that has helped Hung contribute to keeping the compassionate blood donation drive going, from the classroom to the sick.

Established in 2015, the Voluntary Blood Donation Club of Nghe An University currently has 80 volunteers.
During the period 2024-2026, the club mobilized and received more than 570 units of blood; of which, 526 units were received through blood donation programs organized by the club, and the remainder came from voluntary emergency blood donations.

Behind those numbers is a student force that is maintained and developed through each activity. Besides Phan Dinh Hung, other active members of the club include Le Quoc Huy (born 2006), a student of the Faculty of Economics - Business Administration, K11A1; Cao Anh Dai (born 2004), a student of the Faculty of Finance - Banking, K11A1; Pham Thi Khanh Linh (born 2007), a student of the Faculty of E-commerce, K12A1; Dinh Huu Vo Anh (born 2007), a student of the Faculty of Economics - Business Administration...
Since 2024, the club has gained a new milestone with the appointment of Nguyen Thuy Hien (born in 2004), a Marketing student in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, as its Chairperson. Under Hien's leadership, the club's activities have become more vibrant, not only in blood donation programs, mobilizing participants, or supporting emergency cases, but also expanding to community-oriented activities.

One of the activities that left a lasting impression on Hien was the "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children 2025" program. This was also the first time the Club participated in a volunteer activity outside of blood donation, collaborating with two other partner organizations of the school to organize the program at the Mother Teresa Calcutta Orphanage (Nghi Loc commune). Gifts and warm gestures of sharing were personally delivered to the children.
For many participants in the program, this was their first time directly interacting with underprivileged communities, gaining a more concrete perspective on life and community issues. As a result, volunteer activities expanded beyond simply donating blood; they also proactively sought out places in need of support.”
Hien confided in me.
Continuing that legacy, in 2026, the Voluntary Blood Donation Club of Nghe An University continued to collaborate with partner organizations to bring the "Mid-Autumn Festival 2026" to over 200 students at the Center for Education and Vocational Training for People with Disabilities in Nghe An province. Besides warm gifts, interactive performances, and cultural shows, club members also thoughtfully visited, shared, and brought joy and encouragement to the children.

Hien's experiences with volunteer work have become increasingly diverse. The "Red Arena" program, organized by the Voluntary Blood Donation Club of Vinh Medical University, covered health knowledge, situational handling skills for volunteers, skills in promoting and encouraging blood donation, and pre- and post-donation healthcare.
With her compelling performance, Nguyen Thuy Hien won the championship.

Following those achievements, Hien and the club members have strived to maintain effective and diverse activities. Besides blood donation and blood donation campaigns, the club is expanding into other meaningful ways of sharing, so that the "helping hands" of volunteers can spread widely throughout the community and society.
Through this, each member not only contributes to helping those in need but also has the opportunity to cultivate responsibility, empathy, and a spirit of sharing in life.
