(Baonghean.vn) - The Truông Bồn National Historical Site currently preserves and displays hundreds of artifacts from the wartime period. Each artifact contains its own story, but all share a common message about the strength of the courageous and brave fighting spirit of the youth volunteers during the anti-American war.

During the war against the US, Truông Bồn was a key point on the strategic supply route to the southern front. Here, under heavy bombardment, the people and soldiers of Nghe An, with the spirit of "our hearts may stop beating, but the road cannot be blocked"; "living clinging to the bridge and the road, dying bravely and resolutely," maintained the vital transportation artery for convoys and troops heading to the front lines. Here, 1,240 outstanding individuals from the army, police, youth volunteer corps, and civilian laborers fell in the embrace of Mother Earth. Among these outstanding individuals were 13 Youth Volunteers from Squad 2 – the "Steel Squad" of Company 317, Team 65, Nghe An Youth Volunteer Corps, who bravely sacrificed their lives on October 31, 1968. While reviewing the artifacts here, Mr. Phan Trong Tiem, from Yen Thanh district, shared with emotion: "Coming to the Truong Bon National Historical Site, and seeing these artifacts, I am overwhelmed with emotion. I feel the sacrifice and loss of the Youth Volunteer Force members here, and I thank the Truong Bon National Historical Site for preserving these invaluable relics." (Photo: Dinh Tuyen)

The American imperialists dropped bombs of all sizes on Truong Bon and along Route 15A, but they could not deter the will and determination to support the Southern battlefield. As soon as the bombs exploded and enemy planes left, the Youth Volunteer Force was already there to fill the bomb craters and guide vehicles safely through. (Photo: Dinh Tuyen)
