Russian and American fighter jets have had countless aerial encounters; here are some of the most notable confrontations in recent times.
Recently, the US Air Force released a video showing a US F-15 fighter jet intercepting a Russian Su-30 multirole fighter jet in Europe, according to Sputnik.
Dangerous confrontation in Syria
On December 13, 2017, two Russian Su-25 aircraft were escorting a humanitarian convoy near Mayadin (on the west bank of the Euphrates River) when they were approached by a US F-22.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, "By firing flares, the American F-22 interfered with the flight of two Su-25 aircraft. A Russian Su-35 fighter jet, performing a support mission at an altitude of 10,000 meters, quickly approached the F-22 from behind, forcing the American aircraft to leave the area."

CNN, citing US officials, reported that there was no radio communication between the Russian and American pilots.
