The automotive market has grown steadily over the years, particularly in 2015 when sales across the industry exceeded 200,000 vehicles. However, prices show no signs of cooling down, making car ownership more difficult for those with average incomes.
For customers who don't want to buy a used car, the A-segment is the lowest-priced option, starting from under 300 million VND. This segment is a battleground for these cars.Chevrolet Spark, Kia Morning, and Hyundai Grand i10.
1. Chevrolet Spark

The Chevrolet Spark is the most affordable model in its segment.The car uses a 1-liter engine with 67 horsepower. The cheapest version is the Chevrolet Spark van, priced at just 253 million VND.
The 5-seater hatchback versions, LS and LTZ, are priced at 329 and 354 million VND respectively.The LTZ version is equipped with leather seats, a leather steering wheel, a multi-information display, MP3 and AUX connectivity. Safety features include anti-lock braking system (ABS), four airbags, and rear parking sensors.
Although it doesn't have as many features as its two Korean rivals in the same segment, the Spark has the advantage of a lower price. Recent versions focus more on safety features, in line with the tradition of American car manufacturers.
2. Kia Morning

The lowest-priced version of the Morning costs 330 million VND and is equipped with a 1-liter engine. Subsequent versions all feature a 1.25-liter Kappa 4-cylinder inline DOHC gasoline engine producing 86 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The Kia Morning has consistently ranked among the top 10 best-selling cars in the Vietnamese market in recent years, with prices ranging from 330 to 425 million VND for the five available versions. The Morning arrived in Vietnam in 2007, with its biggest strength being its numerous features. This small car has also received positive reviews after extended use, with acceptable fuel consumption and minimal breakdowns.
The top-of-the-line version is the Si with a 4-speed automatic transmission, priced at 425 million VND, and includes features such as:Electrically adjustable rearview mirrors, leather seats, leather steering wheel with integrated buttons, DVD player, Bluetooth connectivity. Safety features include anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), reverse parking sensors, and remote door locking.
The price is 425 million, but the total cost to get the car on the road after paying all taxes and fees will be close to 500 million.
3. Hyundai Grand i10

Hyundai's A-segment car has gained popularity in recent years, with the Grand i10 replacing the previous i10. Many users have commented that the Grand i10 has the most eye-catching design in its segment, with a sleek and urban look suitable for both men and women.
The Grand i10 is available not only in hatchback but also as a sedan. It comes with either a 1-liter or 1.25-liter engine. The cheapest version costs 359 million VND, which is higher than even the most expensive version of the Chevrolet Spark (354 million VND).
The top-of-the-line hatchback version costs 457 million VND, while the most expensive is the i10 sedan 4AT at 479 million VND. This version is equipped with...Two airbags, leather seats, power steering, push-button start, Bluetooth connectivity, anti-lock braking system (ABS), and a rearview camera. Hyundai's model also has the advantage of being imported and boasts a sleek design that appeals to young people.

Besides the three new models in the A-segment, customers can also buy used cars for around 300 million VND, with the advantage of not having to pay additional upfront fees. However, used cars also carry a higher risk of breakdowns, especially in cases of serious accidents and resale, such as collisions or water damage.
