In the first half of 2024, three car models were unexpectedly discontinued in the Vietnamese market.
Toyota Yaris
With hatchback models gradually losing their appeal in the market, this move has led experts to question whether the Toyota Yaris model may be discontinued in Vietnam.
Once a top choice, the Toyota Yaris has seen months with no sales since the beginning of 2024.
In the first five months of 2024, only a mere 8 Yaris vehicles were delivered to Vietnamese customers. This number consistently places the Yaris among the least-selling cars in the Vietnamese market.
Many Toyota dealerships have temporarily stopped accepting orders for the Yaris model.
In Vietnam, the Toyota Yaris is imported as a complete unit from Thailand. Therefore, this model has a relatively high price compared to its competitors in the same segment.
Suzuki Ciaz
According to representatives from Suzuki Vietnam, the 2024 Ciaz model has been discontinued from import into the country since May. According to dealerships, slow sales and weak competitiveness are the main reasons for the discontinuation of the Ciaz in Vietnam.
The Suzuki Ciaz began being sold in Vietnam in 2016. However, sales of this product in Vietnam have been quite modest.
In May 2024, only 3 Ciaz units were sold in Vietnam. Since the beginning of 2024, only 8 units of this model have been sold to Vietnamese customers.
The Suzuki Ciaz is equipped with a 1.4L, 4-cylinder gasoline engine, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, producing a maximum power of 91 horsepower and a maximum torque of 130Nm. The average fuel consumption of this model is 5.79 liters/100 km.
Mazda BT-50
The Mazda BT-50 pickup truck officially launched in the Vietnamese market in 2011. However, after more than a decade, in the first three months of 2024, the Mazda BT-50 consistently appeared on the list of slowest-selling vehicles.
Currently, the Mazda BT-50 is no longer listed in the Mazda Vietnam website's product catalog. The products currently featured on the website are only passenger cars. In the first quarter of 2024, only 5 Mazda BT-50 pickup trucks were sold.
