Behind the title "Teachers Following Uncle Ho's Teachings" are teachers who tirelessly dedicate themselves to their lesson plans, making sacrifices and showing devotion to their profession, their students, and their beloved school.

Despite being over 45 years old, for the past three years, teacher Duong Quoc Viet - a teacher at Dai Minh Secondary School (Yen Thanh district) - has actively participated in five competitions for excellent teachers and excellent homeroom teachers, including two provincial-level competitions.

"

Many people believe that a teacher's career only needs one recognition as an excellent teacher at the provincial level. But I think differently. I participate in competitions not for the title or for personal gain. Simply put, I come to these competitions to learn and exchange experiences with friends and colleagues.

Over 20 years ago, after graduating from high school, Mr. Viet chose teaching as a natural career path, as it was a dream he had cherished since his school days. Because of his love for the profession, over the years, even though he has mostly worked in schools in disadvantaged areas, Mr. Viet has always been passionate about his work and dedicated to his students.

As the Head of the Natural Sciences Department, he has always been a leader, at the forefront of professional tasks, participating in writing innovative teaching methods, mentoring gifted students, and participating in provincial-level science and technology competitions. In addition, despite his age, he remains enthusiastic about extracurricular activities and directs creative experiential programs.

Through his many efforts, teacher Duong Quoc Viet has received the title of Provincial-level Emulation Soldier and numerous Certificates of Commendation from the district and the education sector. In 2025, he is honored to be the only male teacher in Yen Thanh district to be awarded the title of "Teacher Following Uncle Ho's Teachings" by the Education sector.

Sharing his thoughts on this special award, Mr. Viet added: "During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh was a man with a boundless heart and always showed love for children. As a teacher myself, I believe I learned those simple things from him and always strive for the sake of my students."

Born in 1985, teacher Luong Thi Ngoc Hoan from the Ethnic Boarding High School is also one of the few relatively young teachers to be honored on this occasion.

Upon receiving this result, the teacher from the Thai ethnic group in Luc Da commune, Con Cuong district, shared that she was deeply moved by the favor shown by her colleagues and superiors. Since choosing the path of teaching and dedicating herself to the provincial ethnic boarding school, she has always told herself that she must try twice or three times as hard because her starting point was much more difficult than that of many of her colleagues.

Through her own efforts, in 2018, at a relatively young age, she achieved the top score in the practical exam of the provincial excellent teacher competition in Biology. Later, she continuously improved her expertise, pursued further education, and became a key teacher at the Department of Education. She was assigned to share her professional experience, develop high school graduation exam questions, create and grade provincial-level excellent student competitions, and evaluate innovative teaching methods.

Last academic year, teacher Luong Thi Ngoc Hoan played a crucial role in successfully training and winning first prize in the provincial Biology competition for the school's first-ever student. The Biology department also made remarkable progress, moving up from 32nd to 4th place in the high school graduation exam.

In her story, teacher Hoan also said that most of the students at the Ethnic Boarding School are from disadvantaged backgrounds and lack the care of their families. Therefore, in addition to their professional duties, teachers must also be like fathers, mothers, and friends to their students.

Even though these tasks are "unnamed," she and many other teachers at the school don't shy away from the hard work, because the greatest reward is the high grades, the university acceptance letters, and the growth and progress of their students...

diligently "sowing the seeds of knowledge and nurturing human potential"

Honoring the teaching profession and commending teachers has become a fine cultural tradition of the Education and Training sector in Nghe An province. This year, on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, the Education sector commended 135 outstanding teachers and presented them with awards. The title "Teacher who follows Uncle Ho's teachings".

Upon receiving this award, teacher Nguyen Van Tien - a teacher at Do Luong 3 High School - shared his thoughts: "As President Ho Chi Minh once advised, without talent, everything is difficult, but without virtue, everything is useless. As a teacher, one must cultivate both virtue and talent, and in particular, dedication to students and self-respect for the profession are essential. Personally, I always believe that being a teacher requires more than just excellent professional skills. It's also crucial to know how to guide and motivate students, both internally and externally, so they can strive to develop their full potential and acquire knowledge."

Speaking on behalf of 135 teachers at the ceremony honoring teachers who follow President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, Ms. Duong Thi Thao from Co Do High School (Nghia Dan) affirmed: "This is a great motivation and encouragement for myself as well as for the teaching staff who are tirelessly working day and night to impart knowledge and cultivate people. For more than 20 years, I have always strived tirelessly to fulfill my role as a teacher."

To achieve these results, in addition to her five consecutive years of outstanding performance, earning the title of Emulation Soldier at the grassroots level, six consecutive years of innovative teaching methods at the departmental level, and the title of excellent teacher at the provincial level, she is also a teacher who wholeheartedly loves her students.

Several years ago, when her former student fell seriously ill, she organized a fundraising campaign to support him. Now that he has passed away, she continues to care for, support, and mentor his unfortunate younger sister, who is in the 4th grade, so that she can continue to attend school.

Among the teachers who received commendations was Ms. Do Thi Hien from Hanh Dich Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School (Que Phong).

Many years ago, she volunteered to work at Tri Le 2 Primary School, a particularly disadvantaged commune in Que Phong district, from Do Luong district.

Here, most of the students are from ethnic minorities, mainly Thai and Hmong people. The young teacher, working for the first time in this border region adjacent to Laos, learned to integrate with the students and the local people before teaching. Later, she transferred to Hanh Dich Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, also in a remote commune where students still drop out of school to help their parents work in the fields.

During her years working with students in the highlands, she never forgot the experience of being alone at the Khom village school in Hanh Dich commune. At that time, the school had no phone signal and no electricity, but upon hearing that a student had been forced to drop out of school by their parents, she braved the river and climbed a hill to persuade the student to return. Currently, in addition to teaching in the classroom, she still frequently works night shifts, spending more time at school than at home, but she never feels tired.

Teacher Vy Thi Hang, despite her difficult family circumstances—her husband is a construction worker with an unstable job, and both sets of parents are frequently ill—still volunteered to teach at Luong Minh Kindergarten, a school located in a disadvantaged area of Tuong Duong district. Every day, even though the round trip is nearly 40 km, she remains dedicated to the school and the community, loving her students, constantly learning and improving her professional skills, cultivating the qualities of a teacher as taught by President Ho Chi Minh, and still being a devoted wife, mother, and daughter to her family.

Teacher Nguyen Nhat Duc from Thanh Chuong 3 High School, in addition to his many achievements in nurturing gifted students, is also a role model and leader in various movements. Over the years, he has participated in blood donation 11 times, directly at the Thanh Chuong District Cultural Center, at the school, and for those who have unfortunately been involved in accidents. He has received two Certificates of Commendation from the Thanh Chuong District Red Cross Society.

"

Each person is a living testament to the spirit of learning and following Uncle Ho's teachings: diligence, frugality, integrity, righteousness, selflessness, love, sharing, and wholeheartedly dedicating oneself to students. And that spirit will continue to spread throughout the entire sector to extend achievements and contribute to writing the next chapter of the tradition of studiousness of the people of Nghe An.
