Mistakes to avoid when feeding your child shrimp and chicken.
Not everyone knows how to feed shrimp to children and when to avoid giving it to them.
Everyone knows that shrimp is very high in protein and rich in calcium. However, where in the shrimp are these nutrients found? Not everyone knows how to feed shrimp to children and when to avoid them.
Below are the recommendations of MSc. Dr. Le Thi Hai, former Director of the Nutrition Counseling Center - National Institute of Nutrition, on this issue.

Shrimp meat is rich in protein and easy to digest, so it is not a cause of coughing in children.
1. Avoid eating shrimp and chicken when you have a cough.
Many mothers, upon seeing their children cough, avoid giving them shrimp, seafood like crab and fish, and especially chicken... This is completely wrong.
According to nutritionist Le Thi Hai, coughing is caused by an illness, not by diet. The claim that eating shrimp causes coughing is based on the shell and claws. When eating shrimp, if the shell and claws are not removed, they can easily get stuck in the throat, causing itching and coughing. The meat of shrimp, crab, or fish is not the cause of coughing at all.

Chicken meat is rich in zinc, which helps boost children's resistance and immunity when they have a cough.
Conversely, shrimp, crab, and fish are rich in protein and easy to digest. Therefore, the folk belief that children should avoid foods that are considered "fishy" when they have a cough is completely wrong.
It's worth noting that the idea of avoiding chicken when coughing is deeply ingrained in many people's habits and thinking, even though chicken is rich in protein, especially zinc. Zinc is a crucial nutrient involved in the immune system, boosting resistance. Therefore, avoiding chicken when coughing is not advisable. On the contrary, mothers should feed their children chicken when they cough to increase their immunity.
2. Remove all shells and claws from the shrimp before eating.

Shrimp shells are rich in calcium. It's best to choose small shrimp and eat them with the shells to increase calcium intake for children.
According to Dr. Hai, shrimp shells are not good for children who are coughing, but they are very good when mothers need to increase their children's calcium intake. Most people believe that eating shrimp provides a lot of calcium because the shrimp meat contains this nutrient, and of course, they discard the shell and claws. However, in reality, the majority of calcium is in the shrimp shell, while the shrimp meat mainly provides protein. Therefore, if you want to provide calcium to the body, you can choose smaller shrimp for children so they can eat the shell as well.
