(Baonghean.vn) - Over the past week, Nghe An province witnessed many notable events, including important discussions at the 2nd Conference of the 18th Provincial Party Committee, the emulation movement for production with 147,000 outstanding farmers, a bountiful fishing season for fishermen, and the seizure of numerous cases of illegal transportation and trading of explosives by law enforcement agencies.

1.2016: Nghe An needs to make a major breakthrough and achieve many results.

This was the directive of Comrade Ho Duc Phoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, at the 2nd Conference of the Provincial Party Committee's Executive Committee, 18th term, to hear and give opinions on the socio-economic situation, the 2015 budget, the 2016 plan, and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2016-2020; and to discuss and approve a number of regulations and work programs for the 2015-2020 term.

2.Nghe An strengthens cooperation with Viettel Group.

This is the content to be implemented in the near future, as agreed upon by Nghe An province and Viettel Group. Through this, the province will strengthen infrastructure development, especially BTS base stations, to help quickly provide telecommunications coverage in 11 districts of western Nghe An; enhance services and implement several equipment manufacturing projects in Nghe An; and support provincial departments and agencies in installing and using certain software and building firewalls to ensure security.

3.Effectively implement projects funded by BIDV.

This was the directive of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Xuan Duong, at a working session between provincial leaders and relevant departments and agencies to implement programs and projects supported by the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank (BIDV) in the province on the morning of December 10th.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong requested that relevant departments and agencies take decisive action; immediately establish a steering committee and assign specific tasks to each member to ensure the task is carried out effectively.

4.A bountiful harvest of fish from the North.In 2015, based on a coordinated program, the Nghe An Provincial Farmers' Association developed and implemented many vibrant emulation movements at all levels of the farmers' association. Over 253,000 households registered to participate throughout the province, of which nearly 147,000 achieved the title of excellent producers and business operators; the number of households with an income exceeding 200 million VND/year doubled compared to 2014.

In 2015, Nghe An province's seafood catch reached over 110,000 tons, a 7% increase compared to the same period (the northern fishing season alone accounted for approximately 70,000 tons).

This year's northern fishing season is considered a "golden season" for fishermen in Nghe An province. These days, fishermen in Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai, Dien Chau, and other areas are bustling as they head out to sea to welcome the bounty of the ocean.

5.The student found 30 million VND and returned it to the owner.

On December 9th, Ho Huu Loc, a 9th-grade student from Ho Xuan Huong Secondary School in Quynh Luu district, found 30 million VND and several documents and returned them to the owner.(See more).

6.Authorities have seized numerous cases of trafficking and trading in illegal goods.

Thanks to information from the public and the active involvement of law enforcement agencies, many cases of illegal transportation and trading of firecrackers have been detected, apprehended, and dealt with according to the law.

A suspect involved in the illegal trade of explosives was arrested by the Vinh City Police along with the seized evidence.
