(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An province) has nearly 400 farms and family farms, of which 29 farms meet the criteria according to Circular 27 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Of these, 13,182 households achieved the title of excellent producers and business operators with an income of 50-200 million VND/year; 83 households had an income of 500 million-1 billion VND/year, and 10 households had an income of over 1 billion VND/year.

A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Sy Thanh in Hamlet 7, Thanh Thuy Commune. Starting in 2008, with the help of the commune's Farmers' Association, his family borrowed 30 million VND. Along with his own capital, he decided to buy 8 breeding cows. After about two years, the number doubled, and today he has a thriving herd of over 80 cattle and buffaloes. This includes 30 breeding cows, 10 mother buffaloes, and over 7 hectares of acacia trees for timber. On average, his family earns nearly 1 billion VND per year.

Or consider the farm economic development model of Mr. Nguyen Huu Bang in Hamlet 3B, Thanh Phong Commune. After trying various unsuccessful business ventures, when the local government implemented a land reallocation program, he boldly took on large plots of high-lying land where rice cultivation was unproductive, in order to develop his farm economy.

To expand his farm, he leased an additional 1.5 hectares of land from the commune's People's Committee to grow grass and graze livestock. Currently, his family's farm has over 600 orange, pomelo, lemon, and dragon fruit trees, and he has invested in raising cattle. His family now owns nearly 20 cows.

Besides livestock and poultry farming, the movement to cultivate fruit trees is also attracting investment from farmers, bringing in significant income. Following the district and commune's policy of clearing unproductive orchards to plant high-value fruit trees, since 2000, Mr. Vo Van Ky's family in Hamlet 10, Thanh Nho Commune, has boldly planted several new fruit trees such as oranges, lemons, tangerines, and various types of acacia and timber trees. After 3 years, the oranges and tangerines began to bear fruit, and by the 5th year, they provided a stable income.

Recognizing the suitability of the land and soil, and the value of the fruit trees, he gradually expanded his cultivation area. Today, his family owns 4 hectares with over 2,000 trees of high-yielding varieties such as mandarin oranges, native citrus fruits, V2 oranges, and Xa Doai oranges, generating an income of over 1 billion VND per year.

Currently, Thanh Chuong has hundreds of models that generate high incomes and provide employment for local workers (an average of 5 workers per model). More than 1,200 households have invested in agricultural machinery for production, contributing to increased labor productivity, ensuring planting schedules, and gradually modernizing rural agriculture.
