Beaten up by a group for not "obeying" the class leader (January 13, 2015)
The incident sparked outrage when a video surfaced showing a long-haired female student crying and huddled in a corner by a window, screaming and begging for mercy, while a group of other girls continued to beat her. One male student even threw a stack of plastic chairs at the victim. Many other students witnessed the event but no one intervened.
After the police launched an investigation, it was discovered that the class monitor frequently asked Le (the assaulted female student) to buy personal items and do other chores. Le refused these errands, so the monitor considered her "disrespectful." On the afternoon of January 13th, Le was assaulted by five female and two male students from the same 7th grade but a different class, acting on the monitor's "orders." The incident was recorded on a mobile phone by a student in the class. On March 8th, the clip appeared on the internet, causing a strong reaction from the online community. Only then did Le's family learn that their daughter had been assaulted.
