(Baonghean.vn) - The centralized water supply project for Dien Thai commune, Dien Chau district, constructed by Phu Hai Co., Ltd., was put into operation at the end of 2015, helping the people of Dien Thai commune no longer face the serious shortage of clean water.

Tap water has now reached households in Dien Thai commune.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Thai commune, said: "The commune is a low-lying area, and the supply of clean water has been severely lacking for many years. People have to depend on irrigation water from the irrigation system flowing from Do Luong district. This water seeps through polluted fields sprayed with pesticides and herbicides, seriously affecting health, but people still have to let it flow into ponds and wells for filtration and drinking. Most of the drilled wells here are contaminated with salt and unusable."

Faced with this situation, at the end of 2014, with support from the State and funds from the commune's budget, Dien Thai commune began construction of a centralized clean water plant.

The Dien Thai water supply project was built using modern GRUNDFOS (Denmark) technology, providing complete water treatment and ensuring water quality meets the Ministry of Health's Standard 02.

The Dien Thai water treatment plant has received comprehensive investment.

The project has a total value of over 10 billion VND. It includes a raw water reservoir with a capacity of over 3,000 m², a clean water reservoir with a capacity of over 400 m³, a sedimentation and filtration system, an operation and management building, a building for machinery and equipment, and primary and secondary pumping systems.

The water supply system has a capacity of 1,200 m3 of water per day, providing water to 1,700 households. The centralized clean water supply system in Dien Thai commune draws its water directly from the Vach Nam River.

Mr. Nguyen Chin, Director of Phu Hai Co., Ltd., added: Although the construction process faced difficulties in terms of funding, with only about 50% of the capital advanced, the construction unit made efforts and used its own funds to complete the water treatment plant and bring it into operation as soon as possible. The construction unit hopes for continued support from the State to disburse the remaining funds.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam from Dien Thai said: "With the clean water plant in operation, we have a source of hygienic water for daily use. It also provides opportunities to do business in the beverage sector, making trading easier and increasing our income."

Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Thai commune, said: The Dien Thai centralized clean water supply plant, once completed and put into operation, will not only help people overcome the shortage of clean water for daily life but also contribute to changing the living habits of the local people, stabilizing their lives, improving the ecological environment, and helping them access a more modern life.

Let's work together to overcome difficulties and ensure a stable water supply for the people.

Phu Hai Co., Ltd. is also the contractor for the Phu Thanh commune water treatment plant project. The project commenced in June 2014 and is expected to be completed by the end of December 2015. The total cost is 23.5 billion VND, with 60% from state funding and 40% from local funding.

When put into operation, the project will help people access clean water, contributing to improving their lives in the area. Due to funding difficulties, the project is currently suspended. However, the government, local authorities, and the construction unit are discussing solutions to overcome the difficulties and resume construction to provide water to the people.

The Phu Thanh commune water treatment plant in Yen Thanh district has reached over 60% completion but construction had to be halted due to a lack of funds. The construction unit will resume work in the coming period and plans to put it into operation in June 2017.

Mr. Nguyen Chin, Director of Phu Hai Co., Ltd., added: Despite difficulties in funding, the company has completed 12 out of 23.5 billion VND worth of construction work. Specifically, the company has completed the construction of a 5,000 m2 raw water reservoir, the operation and management building, the equipment house, and the installation of the pipeline system from distribution and transmission to household services.
