New school, new joy.

With only one semester left, Luong Thi Thao Ly (class 12A5 – Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School) and her classmates will leave the boarding school to enter university.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of final exam preparation, the worries about living arrangements seem to lessen now that the students have been moved to a new, spacious, and modern dormitory. From this second semester onwards, boarding students no longer have to worry about the lack of hot water during the cold rainy season, nor the cramped conditions of crowded rooms. Instead, they have a spacious and warm environment where they can focus on studying and preparing for the important exams ahead.

Thao Ly and seven other students from her class share a dorm room on the third floor of a newly inaugurated, five-story dormitory that will be operational in early 2026. To facilitate students' studies and daily life, each dormitory room is fully furnished with beds, desks, wardrobes, and small shelves for easy organization of belongings. In addition, each room has two bathrooms, equipped with water heaters, sinks, and fans for students' convenience. This is also the first dormitory in the province to have an elevator.

Sharing her thoughts on this, Thao Ly said: "We feel very happy and fortunate to be in such a spacious and beautiful place. For us, the dormitory is truly a second home, a place where everyone feels warm and can share with others."

During the two years of implementation and construction, the project to build a dormitory for the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School faced many difficulties, so when the project was completed, the joy was doubled or tripled. For the school, the facility's operation will help solve many challenging problems.

Most importantly, this will provide students with clean, safe, and comfortable accommodation, eliminating the long-standing worry of dilapidated dormitories. The school will also avoid having to use makeshift facilities, such as classrooms, laboratories, and functional rooms, as temporary accommodation for students. From this second semester onwards, teachers and students will have ample space to organize educational activities in a systematic and comprehensive manner, prioritizing extracurricular activities and after-school programs.

The commissioning of the dormitory has put an end to the cramped and makeshift living conditions of the past, opening up a stable, safe, and warm living space for students. From now on, the dormitory is not just a place to live, but truly becomes a shared home, where students can study, live, and nurture their dreams with peace of mind.

The dormitory also serves as clear evidence of the Party and State's deep concern for education in mountainous regions, further motivating students to strive and excel in their studies.

In the final days of the old year, the three-story building with 30 classrooms at Nguyen Xuan On High School was inaugurated and put into use. The project is a meaningful gift from Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS), sponsored by the school with a total investment of over 47 billion VND.

The project commenced in January 2025 and was completed in just over 300 days, one year ahead of schedule, bringing immense joy to the school.

Mr. Phan Trong Dong, the school principal, shared: "In 2026, our school will celebrate its 80th anniversary, so the newly opened school will create favorable conditions for us to improve the quality of teaching and learning, maintaining our position as one of the top schools in the province. I also believe that the support from benefactors will ignite faith and hope for many generations of teachers and students, empowering us to stand firm on our journey of teaching and nurturing knowledge and character in our students."

To ensure students feel safe and secure going to school.

Entering 2026, much joy has come to the teachers and over 300 students of Yen Hoa Secondary School in Yen Hoa commune as the construction of 10 boarding rooms along with a kitchen and dining hall has been completed and put into operation. Simultaneously, the school and local authorities are finalizing the last procedures to prepare for the establishment of Yen Hoa Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School – a significant milestone in the school's development.

The entire project was funded by the National Target Program and implemented during the transition period between two levels of local government. Overcoming common difficulties, the project was completed on schedule, creating an opportunity for the school to meet the requirements for building a boarding school.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Huy, the school principal, said: "The boarding students at our school come from four villages: Xop Kha, Yen Huong, Yen Tan, and Dinh Yen, and the majority are Khmu people. Their circumstances are still difficult; their parents mostly work far away, and their homes are far from the school. With the boarding school in operation, the students can eat and live at the school, no longer having to worry about the rainy season, storms, or landslides. This is also an important foundation for the school to maintain student numbers, improve the quality of teaching and learning, and help parents feel secure when their children study far from home."

2025 is a special year for the whole country in general and the education sector in particular. The initial implementation of a two-tiered local government system has had a significant impact on the progress of many projects, including school projects. However, after a short period of interruption, many projects are expected to be completed and put into use by early 2026.

In Van Kieu commune, despite being a disadvantaged area far from the center and with limited resources for the people, education has been identified as a top priority, so school construction projects in the area are still being implemented according to plan, such as Nghi Van Primary School, Nghi Kieu Secondary School, and Nghi Van Kindergarten.

At Nghi Van Primary School, two construction projects were completed last year, including a three-story building with 12 classrooms worth 15 billion VND. In addition, the commune invested over 3 billion VND in building a new cafeteria for students.

Notably, despite being located in a rural area, the school has received substantial investment, including a swimming pool and artificial turf field for students to learn extracurricular subjects. All 34 classrooms, housing over 1,200 students, are equipped with air conditioning and modern teaching equipment, funded through social contributions and support from businesses. Mr. Vo Van Tuan, the school principal, affirmed that this comprehensive investment is crucial for improving the quality of teaching and learning, creating conditions for students to develop their skills holistically.

Van Kieu is a predominantly agricultural commune with a unique situation, as over 50% of its population are Catholic. Despite facing many difficulties, we have always recognized that education must be prioritized and our first priority is building schools that meet national standards. This is why, despite limited budget resources, the commune has leveraged all available resources and saved local funds to ensure that construction projects continue uninterrupted.
The immediate task for the local government is to ensure that by 2027, all 7/7 schools in the commune achieve national standard school status at level 2.
