Nissan and Infiniti are recalling older vehicles that have been repaired after collisions to address issues with faulty Takata airbags.

According to official reports, only 375 vehicles were recalled, but Nissan says more than 18,000 vehicles may have been fitted with faulty airbags.

Owners of 2001-2003 Nissan Maximas, 2002-2006 Nissan Sentras, 2007-2012 Nissan Versa, 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4s, and 2006-2010 Infiniti M35s/M45s who have had their vehicles repaired after a collision or damaged by theft should be aware that replacement airbag inflator parts may pose a safety hazard.

Nissan's announcement stated: "The potentially faulty airbag inflator units may have been installed in vehicles after they underwent repairs. Vehicles that had the airbag inflator installed before December 9, 2016, are not affected."

Faulty airbag inflators were inadvertently shipped to Nissan and Infiniti service depots between December 9, 2016, and November 12, 2021. Recall notices have been sent to owners via mail, who are being asked to bring their vehicles in for inspection, and if the faulty parts are found, they will be replaced.
