Bringing electricity to the remote villages in western Nghe An province has never been an easy task. In that area, each route is not only a series of steep mountain passes, treacherous cliffs, and dangerous streams, but also a harsh test of nature, weather, and socio-economic conditions.

In the final months of the year, amidst the mountains and forests of western Nghe An province, where villages perched precariously amidst the clouds, the people still yearn for electricity to reach their homes. For many years, they only knew the flickering oil lamps and a few dim lights from the waterwheels of families living near the streams. For them, electricity is not just a convenience, but a yearning for a better life, a hope shared by generations.

Most of the routes to reach the remote villages in western Nghe An are extremely treacherous, only accessible on foot, crossing rivers, streams, and steep cliffs.

Understanding the aspirations of the people in the remote border areas is a constant concern of the leaders of Nghe An Power Company. In recent days, Mr. Pham Cong Thanh - Director of the Company and Mr. Le Quang Thanh - Deputy Director, along with a delegation from various departments, have directly traversed treacherous forests, crossed streams, and navigated steep mountain passes to reach remote communities lacking electricity in the villages of Cha Nga, Xop Duong, Nhot Lot, Pha Chieng (formerly Ky Son district) and Huoi May village, Muong Quang commune (formerly Que Phong district) to survey, research, and find the most feasible solutions to bring electricity to the people as soon as possible.

The already difficult and treacherous roads leading to remote villages have become even more challenging after successive flash floods and landslides caused by typhoons No. 3, No. 5, and No. 10 in 2025. Most routes are only passable on foot, slippery, and fraught with danger, with sharp rocks lurking beneath your feet. Sections passable by motorbike are hairpin bends, with a sheer cliff on one side and a precarious, vertical mountain slope on the other. Yet, along each stretch of road, the determined spirit of those wearing the uniform of the electricity sector is evident. Behind every number, every project, are real stories of people and events, where willpower, spirit, and responsibility for the community are paramount.

Mr. Pham Cong Thanh, Director of Nghe An Power Company, shared: “We have always recognized that bringing electricity to the remote villages in western Nghe An has never been an easy task. In those areas, each route is not only a series of steep mountain passes, treacherous cliffs, and dangerous streams, but also a harsh challenge posed by nature, weather, and socio-economic conditions. There are sections of road only a few hundred meters long that take the working group hours to traverse due to landslides and damage after floods.”

But what we saw was not just hardship, but also the aspirations of the people, the hopeful eyes of the villagers, the voice of the local government, and above all, the desire to bring light to the villages in the border region. That is the driving force that motivates the employees of Nghe An Power Company to never falter.

For every employee of the company, the task of bringing electricity to remote border villages is not just a project goal, but also a responsibility and mission to bring light, faith, and hope to villages still facing many difficulties. This is to ensure children have light to study, to provide people with better living conditions, and to ensure that every citizen in these border regions has timely access to the Party's guidelines, the State's policies, and opportunities for long-term economic development.”

When the delegation from Nghe An Power Company arrived in the village, the villagers clasped the hands of the company's leaders, their eyes filled with undisguised faith and emotion. The light of electricity in those remote areas not only dispelled the darkness but also opened up hope for a new life, where mountains and forests are no longer obstacles to development, and where connectivity is no longer broken by the rugged terrain.

Despite the countless difficulties ahead, the leadership and staff of Nghe An Power Company remain steadfast in their commitment. This journey may be long and arduous, but it is a journey of heart and responsibility to the community. In one way or another, when electricity illuminates even the most remote villages, it is not only the result of the hard work, intelligence, and sweat of the electricians, but also the belief and commitment of Nghe An Power Company: "No matter where we are, no matter how difficult the circumstances, we are determined to bring light to the people in the border and high-altitude regions of Nghe An."
