Burdened with debt, a woman set herself on fire by pouring gasoline on herself at a village temple.

Distressed by debt, on the afternoon of July 8th, a woman unexpectedly doused herself with gasoline and set herself on fire at a temple.

The victim was identified as Ms. Cao Thi Quoc Anh (57 years old), residing in Buu Hoa ward, Bien Hoa city. When the incident occurred, many people in the temple panicked upon discovering flames engulfing Ms. Anh's body and shouted for help. However, by the time people managed to extinguish the fire, Ms. Anh had lost consciousness.

Ms. Anh is currently receiving emergency treatment at the hospital and is in critical condition.

According to doctors, this is a very severe case of full-body thermal burns with over 90% of the body burned, so Dong Nai General Hospital will transfer the patient to a higher-level hospital for further emergency care and treatment.

According to Ms. Truong Thi Thi, a relative of the patient, Ms. Anh was at home that morning before going to Tan Ban Temple alone. About 30 minutes later, the incident occurred. Ms. Thi believes the reason for Ms. Anh's self-immolation may have been due to distress over debt. The case is currently under investigation.
