Exciting "Going to the fields festival" 2018

Attending the event were comrades Nguyen Huu Nhi - Member of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, Nguyen Huu Lap - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, and representatives of the Farmers' Association.

The 2018 Going to the Fields Festival with the theme "For comprehensive and sustainable agricultural development" is considered one of the unique folk cultural activities, promoting the role of agricultural production, making an important contribution to socio-economic development.

Therefore, the festival of going to the fields has been restored, maintained and developed by many localities, having great significance both politically and culturally.

The 2018 Going to the Fields Festival was held in Thanh Chuong, a locality with a large agricultural land fund, a tradition of production, and many mechanical cooperatives providing machinery for agricultural production. The purpose of the festival is to promote the restructuring of the agricultural sector associated with the construction of new rural areas.

After the ceremony, the festival delegates experienced the traditional rice planting competition by hand by farmers from 3 teams of Thanh Lien commune including Lien Duc, Lien Chau, Lien Yen, each team consisting of 5 people.

The scoring method for each team is 100 points including correct planting density, straight planting, correct number of shoots/clump and fast planting.

At the end of the competition, Yen Duc team won first prize and received a gift of 1,500 thousand VND from the Organizing Committee, the remaining two teams won second prize.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Huu Nhi - Member of the Party Committee - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association called on all cadres, members and farmers of the province to continue to promote tradition, solidarity, dynamism, creativity, and improve qualifications, knowledge and production skills. Party committees at all levels, authorities, unions and entrepreneurs continue to support and create favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms and policies so that farmers have enough intelligence and strength to promote restructuring of the agricultural sector, associated with building new, modern and civilized rural areas.

On behalf of the Party Committee, the government and all the people, Mr. Le Dinh Thanh - Vice Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee officially assigned responsibility to agencies, departments and communes in the area to strictly implement the crop calendar, forecast weather and pests, maintain machinery, and provide good sources of seeds and techniques so that people can feel secure in production.

On this occasion, the Provincial Farmers' Association coordinated with Phu Sinh Fertilizer Company (Quynh Luu) to present 100 gifts to 100 poor farmers in Thanh Lien commune, each gift in kind is 25 kg of fertilizer/household. Although the gift is small, it is a source of encouragement for people to go to the fields, invest in intensive farming to prepare for a new successful 2018 crop.
