Claiming to know the boss to receive 15 billion VND in protection money for land sales.
On June 26th, the police served the indictment decision and executed the temporary detention order against Tang Tan Dat (born in 1984) to investigate the act of "fraudulent appropriation of property".
According to the resultsinvestigateTang Tan Dat (residing in Cua Lap hamlet, Duong To commune, Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province) and Dang Van Linh have known each other since 2015. In 2021, Linh, along with Le Minh Diep, Dang Van Hung, and Nguyen Van Nguyen, colluded to establish LHD Investment and Development Consulting Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as LHD Company), acquiring agricultural land, occupying forest land, creating illegal residential area projects, subdividing land, and selling plots to many people, thereby making a large amount of illicit profit.
Dat told Linh's group that he had connections with local leaders, so when LHD Company illegally subdivided and sold land plots, Dat proactively requested Linh and Diep's group to transfer money to him multiple times to "arrange" for the leaders to help ensure the illegal land subdivision and sale would not be penalized.
From 2021-2022, Diep and Linh transferred a total of over 15 billion VND to Dat. After receiving the money, Dat did not fulfill his commitments but instead misappropriated and used it for personal purposes.
In connection with the case, the Kien Giang Provincial Police have initiated legal proceedings and temporarily detained 12 individuals involved in the acts of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and "Receiving bribes".
