Internal strife, 'veterans' reject Trump

The power struggle within President-elect Donald Trump's faction has taken place and become more evident. This challenge is even more difficult for Trump, when there are too many 'veterans' or 'big names' who have openly rejected Trump.

The new US President is facing many challenges after being elected.

Not only did he change his tone with a series of statements contrary to his campaign, Trump's team's personnel work also had a series of disturbances, with many signs of disagreement.

First is the replacement of the head of the cabinet selection process. The position originally belonged to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who was a strong contender to become both chief of staff and attorney general in Trump’s cabinet.

However, in a surprise move, Trump demoted Christie to deputy transition team leader.

In an even rarer move, Trump appointed Vice President-elect Mike Pence to head the cabinet selection team, replacing Christie.

Before Trump, only Jimmy Carter had ever appointed a Vice President-elect to take on this role.

Politico took the opinion of observers, saying that this could be the result of a confrontation within Trump's team.

Regarding the appointment of Mike Pence, Trump spokesman Jason Miller said that the President-elect is not concerned about 'internal divisions', but that way of speaking also makes people understand that the divisions are real.

For someone with no political experience like Donald Trump, appointing up to 4,000 positions, including high-ranking personnel in the government, is a huge challenge.

This challenge is even more difficult for Trump, when there are too many 'veterans' or 'big names' who openly reject Trump.

And now, even if Trump doesn't pay attention to internal divisions, this is still a challenge he must solve, because the conflict within the group seems to be very fierce.

The initial conflict came from Trump loyalists like Corey Lewandowsky, versus Republicans like Reince Priebus (chairman of the Republican National Committee – RNC).

Reince Priebus has been Chairman of the RNC since 2011. CNN rates him as the leading candidate for the position of Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor in the future Trump administration.

Corey Lewandowsky was upset with this because he thought it was Priebus who had been mocking Trump since he was running for office.

The next conflict that can be mentioned is the resentment between Trump's close group in Washington and in New York.

However, the focus of the conflict will become increasingly clear in Trump's appointment of several of his children to this power transition group, especially his 'young and talented' son-in-law Jared Kursher.

During his campaign, Trump said that his children would not go to the White House, but would instead run the family business. Now, he has changed his mind, putting his sons, daughters, and son-in-law into the government's personnel planning apparatus.

A notable detail is that Trump's confidant Christie once prosecuted his in-law Charles Kurshner - Jared Kurshner's father. Therefore, there is always a grudge between Christie and Jared Kurshner.

Ivanka Trump's husband, Kurshner, is a young, successful businessman with political ambitions who is very popular with Trump. He owns the New York Observer, which recently stopped publishing its print edition.

This move is widely believed to be Kurshner's way to the White House with his father-in-law, after a period of tirelessly supporting his media campaign.

Such fights will continue for another 70 days, when Donald Trump officially becomes the owner of the White House.
