Internal strife leads to the rejection of Trump by veteran politicians.

The power struggle within President-elect Donald Trump's faction has begun and is becoming increasingly evident. This challenge is even more daunting for Trump, as many veteran figures and prominent personalities openly oppose him.

The new US president is facing many challenges after being elected.

Not only has Trump changed his tune with a series of statements contradicting those made during the campaign, but there has also been a series of personnel changes within his team, with many signs of disagreement.

First, there's the replacement of the head of the team responsible for selecting cabinet members. This position was originally held by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a highly promising candidate for both Chief of Staff and Attorney General in the Trump administration.

However, in a surprising move, Trump demoted Christie to deputy head of the transition team.

An even rarer move was Trump appointing Vice President-elect Mike Pence to head the cabinet selection team, replacing Christie.

Prior to Trump, only Jimmy Carter had previously appointed a Vice President-elect to this role.

Politico, citing observers, suggests this could be the result of a power struggle within Trump's team.

Regarding the appointment of Mike Pence, Trump's spokesman Jason Miller said that the president-elect was not concerned about "internal divisions," but that statement also implied that divisions do exist.

For someone with no political experience like Donald Trump, appointing to 4,000 positions, including high-ranking officials in the administration, is a huge challenge.

This challenge is made even more difficult for Trump, given that so many veteran figures or prominent personalities have openly rejected him.

And now, even if Trump doesn't seem to care about the internal divisions, this is still implicitly a challenge he must address, because the conflict within the group appears to have become very intense.

The initial conflict stemmed from a divide between Trump loyalists like Corey Lewandowsky and Republicans such as Reince Priebus (chairman of the Republican National Committee – RNC).

Reince Priebus has been the RNC chairman since 2011. CNN considers him a leading candidate for Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor in a future Trump administration.

Corey Lewandowsky was annoyed by this, arguing that Priebus was the one who had mocked Trump right from the start of his campaign.

Another potential source of conflict is the animosity between Trump's inner circle in Washington and those in New York.

However, the core of the conflict will become increasingly apparent in Trump's decision to appoint several of his children to this transition team, especially his young and talented son-in-law, Jared Kursher.

During the campaign, Trump said his children would not enter the White House, but would focus on the family business. Now, he has changed his mind, placing his sons, daughters, and sons-in-law in the administration's personnel appointments.

Interestingly, Christie, a close confidant of Trump, had previously prosecuted his father-in-law, Charles Kurshner – Jared Kurshner's father. Therefore, there has always been animosity between Christie and Jared Kurshner.

Kurshner, Ivanka Trump's husband, is a young, successful businessman with political ambitions, and is very much favored by Trump. He owns the New York Observer, which recently ceased print publication.

Many believe this move is paving the way for Kurshner to enter the White House alongside his father-in-law, after a period of diligently supporting his media campaign.

Such infighting will continue for another 70 days, until Donald Trump officially becomes the occupant of the White House.
