Where peach blossoms bloom in the middle of autumn.

(Baonghean) - We arrived in Tay Son (Ky Son) on a mid-autumn day, when the sunlight gilded the mountain ranges and a gentle breeze swept in. At this time, the Mong people were beginning their agricultural harvest, harvesting upland rice, corn, taro, and ginger. And, remarkably, in this "capital" of the Mong people, peach blossoms were in full bloom as autumn reached its peak.

The road to Huoi Giang 1, Huoi Giang 2, and Huoi Giang 3 villages is overflowing with peach blossoms. Beside the moss-covered tiled roofs, peach branches reach up, displaying their vibrant colors. The pink hues of the peach blossoms bring excitement and joy to the mountains and villages in autumn. The trees shed their leaves, the dry branches rustle, and the chill begins to gently caress the skin. Yet, seeing the peach orchards in full bloom, visitors from the lowlands can't help but be amazed, as it's still autumn, with several months of winter still ahead, but the peach blossoms of Tay Son are already vying to show off their beauty.

Reporters from Nghe An Newspaper "hunt" for autumn peach blossoms in Tay Son (Ky Son).

It truly feels like strolling through springtime, in a land shrouded in mist. And not only in the Huoi Giang area (the three central villages of the commune), but also in Dong 1 and Dong 2 villages – the most remote and isolated – the peach orchards are bursting with buds, radiating a pure pink hue. However, for the Mong people in Tay Son, peach blossoms blooming in autumn are not unusual. Adults still harvest rice and corn; children still go to school to learn to read and write. It's not like the beginning of spring, when the peach trees just begin to bud and the villages are already bustling with preparations for Tet (Lunar New Year) and festivities. Mr. Ha Giong Nenh from Dong 2 village shared: "Here, peach blossoms blooming at this time of year is normal. In years with warm weather, the peach trees will bloom twice. This year is probably warmer than last year."

Actually, this wasn't our first time in Tay Son, home to the Pun Lon and Pu Mo mountain ranges shrouded in mist and clouds year-round. However, this was the first time we witnessed the cherry blossoms in full bloom in the middle of autumn. At an altitude of around 1,500 meters above sea level, this region has a somewhat different climate. Like Muong Long, Nam Can, and Huoi Tu, Tay Son is generally about 5°C lower than the central area of Ky Son district. In other words, Tay Son is a "microclimate zone" characterized by its cool and temperate climate, ideal for those wishing to escape the summer heat of western Nghe An province.

This area is home to the Hmong people; all six villages in the commune are Hmong. It's unclear whether the peach trees in Tay Son were brought by the Hmong people during their migration hundreds of years ago from the Northwest of the country to Western Nghe An, or if they were already native to this region. Hmong villages are often associated with steep mountain peaks, thatched roofs stained with the "colors of time," and peach orchards that bloom in spring. And perhaps the peach orchards in Tay Son currently in full bloom are something special?

The center of Tay Son commune is located less than 15km from Muong Xen town. Although the road is steep, it has been paved, so travel is not too difficult. During this time, if you are passing through the highlands of Ky Son, stop by Tay Son to admire the peach blossoms and experience another special thing in life.
