Midwife disciplined for lying to patient
A pregnant woman went to Thanh Khe District Medical Center (Da Nang) for examination due to a fall. The midwife lied that the ultrasound machine was broken and refused treatment.
The patient's husband shared the story on social media. The Thanh Khe District People's Committee then sent a document requesting the leaders of the Thanh Khe District Medical Center to verify the information.
Ms. Le Thuy Nguyet, Deputy Director of Thanh Khe District Medical Center, said that the 27-year-old pregnant woman was brought to the clinic by her husband on the morning of April 26 after falling. The patient was directed to the Obstetrics Department for examination. At that time, the ultrasound doctor was sick and had asked for leave. Instead of informing the patient that there was no doctor on duty, the midwife said that the ultrasound machine was broken.

Ms. Nguyet said: "The ultrasound machine, worth more than two billion VND, was just transferred to the center three months ago to serve medical examination and treatment and is working well," Ms. Nguyet said.
The Medical Center disciplined the midwife by demoting her promotion and salary.
