To create a foundation and provide students with more motivation and experience in their career development, for many years, the Vietnam-Korea College of Technology has always focused on and organized activities to support and train students in entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity. Through these efforts, the college has ignited the spirit and passion of its young students and helped them realize their entrepreneurial ideas and projects.

Creating an environment that fosters startup ideas.

The Vietnam-Korea Industrial Technical College is a high-quality public vocational education institution located in Vinh City, supported and developed by the Korean government. With a history spanning 28 years, the college plays a leading role as a reputable technical training center in the North Central region, aiming for ASEAN and international standards.

Currently, the school offers training in a diverse range of key technical fields such as information technology, industrial electricity, electronics and automation, mechatronics, automotive technology, mechanical engineering, welding technology, refrigeration, along with several service and foreign language programs such as Korean. In terms of infrastructure and facilities, the school has received comprehensive investment from ODA funds from the Korean government, with a system of modern classrooms, workshops, and training equipment that are continuously upgraded. The practical training model allows students to directly access advanced machinery and technology, ensuring that "learning goes hand in hand with practice," effectively meeting the requirements of businesses and the labor market.

In recent years, supporting entrepreneurship among students has been identified by the university as one of its key priorities. Through activities such as startup idea competitions, practical experience programs, and business networking, students are exposed to innovative thinking at an early age. For example, the annual "VKC Startup - Searching for Student Entrepreneurship Ideas" competition has attracted a large number of students with many highly applicable projects. Beyond just ideas, many projects receive support from the university to refine them for practical implementation in production and business.

Nguyen Thanh An, a third-year student in the College program DL17A, shared: “Participating in entrepreneurship activities at school has helped me change my mindset and career direction significantly. Previously, I simply thought about graduating and then getting a job, but through competitions and entrepreneurship support programs, I've boldly developed my own ideas and learned how to turn them into real products. I've had access to businesses, learned from teachers and senior students, and gained a better understanding of the market and societal needs. Although there are still many challenges, the entrepreneurial journey has helped me become more confident, hone my skills, and dare to think and act to pursue my goals.”

The Vietnam-Korea Industrial Technical College has always identified innovative entrepreneurship as one of its key orientations in the training process. Besides equipping students with professional knowledge, the college also focuses on fostering creative thinking and a spirit of daring to think and act. Through activities supporting startup ideas, connecting students with businesses, and providing practical production experience, students have the opportunity to realize their projects even while still studying.

Achievements from the student entrepreneurship movement

During the period 2020-2026, the student entrepreneurship movement at the Vietnam-Korea Industrial Technical College recorded many outstanding achievements at major provincial and national competitions. Building on the foundation of the 2020 Startup Kite competition at the school level, with hundreds of students participating, many projects advanced to regional and national rounds, winning high awards, including second and third prizes, and reaching the national finals. Over the years, the school has consistently had projects winning awards at prestigious competitions such as Startup Kite, Techfest Nghe An, Green Entrepreneurship, and the National Student Startup Competition.

In particular, in 2026, the school was honored and proud to win first prize in the national student startup competition (SV StartUp 2026) held in Hanoi, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. This project was carried out by two students, Nguyen Thanh An and Le Van Hoan – third-year students of the College DL17A class – under the guidance of lecturers Tu Duc Viet and Nguyen Van Tien from the Refrigeration Engineering department. The main idea of the project was to develop a water filtration device that operates using solar energy combined with mechanical energy (hand crank drive), without using grid electricity, to solve the problem of clean water in harsh conditions, emergency situations, especially in flood-prone areas, natural disasters, or for military, exploration, and outdoor survival purposes.

The judging panel highly appreciated the project's potential to directly address pressing social issues. The project's greatest significance lies in empowering individuals to create their own sources of livelihood (clean water) under any circumstances. This is a project that the students of the Refrigeration Engineering department are very proud of.

It is no coincidence that the entrepreneurship movement at the Vietnam-Korea Industrial Technical College has achieved such resounding success. This is the result of a persistent journey, affirmed by the prestigious awards bestowed upon the college and its individuals by various levels of government and organizations over the years.

As proof of its tireless efforts, during the period 2020-2022, the school was honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs for three consecutive years. Entering 2025, the school continues to make its mark by receiving a Certificate of Commendation from the Ministry of Education and Training for its outstanding achievements in supporting student entrepreneurship.

The first-prize winning project was carried out by Nguyen Thanh An and Le Van Hoan, third-year students of the College of Electrical Engineering DL17A, under the guidance of lecturers Tu Duc Viet and Nguyen Van Tien from the Refrigeration Engineering department. The main idea of the project was to develop a water filtration device that operates using solar energy combined with mechanical energy (crank drive).

In particular, behind the success of the award-winning projects is the companionship and guidance of a team of highly qualified and enthusiastic lecturers. This spirit has been solemnly recognized by the Party and the State: one lecturer from the university was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for outstanding achievements in supporting students in scientific research and entrepreneurship; and another individual received a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training for positive contributions in inspiring entrepreneurial aspirations in the younger generation.

These Certificates of Merit are not only a source of pride, but also a firm affirmation of the prestige and quality of training at the Vietnam-Korea College of Technology – where creative ideas are always nurtured and given wings by dedicated teachers.

Speaking about future directions, Dr. Ho Van Dam – Principal of the Vietnam-Korea Industrial Technical College – emphasized: The school always identifies innovative entrepreneurship as a crucial pillar in its development strategy, and will therefore promote the development of an entrepreneurial ecosystem within the school; strengthen links with businesses, investment funds, and entrepreneurship support organizations to create conditions for students to access practical experience earlier. At the same time, the school will focus on integrating entrepreneurial thinking into training programs, developing centers to support idea incubation, and encouraging lecturers to accompany students in the research and development of products.

"We want each student to not only have solid professional skills but also creative thinking, the ability to create their own jobs, and the flexibility to adapt to the labor market in the new context," affirmed Ho Van Dam, Principal of the Vietnam-Korea Industrial Technical College.
