Farmers in Anh Son are busy harvesting cassava.
(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, farmers in Anh Son district are in the midst of harvesting cassava for the 2022 crop. According to the farmers, this year's cassava harvest is bountiful, and the price is also stable, so they are very happy. The atmosphere in the orchards and hills is bustling and busy with the cassava harvest.
Taking advantage of favorable weather conditions, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ky's family in Hamlet 1, Hoi Son Commune, is currently mobilizing manpower to harvest 1 hectare of cassava. Ms. Ky said that every year in November, her family starts planting and after one year they can harvest.
These days, she has to hire extra workers to keep up with the demand from the factory. According to Ms. Ky's calculations, her family will achieve a yield of over 20 tons of cassava this season, and with relatively stable purchase prices, the family will earn nearly 40 million VND.
According to Ms. Ky's experience, cassava is not difficult to grow and adapts to various types of cultivated land, including barren land, deforested hills, infertile land, and sloping land. As long as farmers plant at the correct density and spacing and pay attention to proper care techniques, it will yield high economic returns.

With 3 hectares of hillside land previously used to grow crops with low economic efficiency, in recent years, the family of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thanh in Yen Hoa village, Hoa Son commune, has also switched to growing cassava for raw materials.
Mr. Thanh shared: For more than 5 years, thanks to cassava cultivation, his family has escaped poverty and has a stable income. Currently, his family has harvested 1/3 of the area, yielding over 70 tons of cassava tubers. With the current purchase price of 1,900 VND/kg at the field, after deducting expenses, his family earned over 100 million VND. Not only Mr. Thanh's family but most farmers here are very happy because all the harvested cassava is bought up immediately.
Hoa Son is one of the localities with a large area of cassava cultivation in Anh Son district. As a commune with favorable conditions for developing industrial cassava production, especially with a processing plant located within its boundaries, Hoa Son commune has implemented many solutions to develop cassava cultivation, considering it a key crop in the local agricultural structure.
