Anh Son farmers busy harvesting cassava
(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, farmers in Anh Son district are in the 2022 cassava harvest season. According to farmers, this year's cassava crop is good and the price is stable, so farmers are very excited. In the gardens and hills, the cassava harvest atmosphere is very urgent and bustling.
Taking advantage of favorable weather, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ky's family in Hamlet 1, Hoi Son Commune is currently mobilizing labor to harvest 1 hectare of raw cassava. Ms. Ky said that every year in November of the solar calendar, her family starts planting and after 1 year, they can harvest.
These days, she has to hire more workers to sell to the factory on time. According to Ms. Ky's calculations, this cassava crop her family has achieved a yield of over 20 tons, with a relatively stable purchase price, the family earns nearly 40 million VND.
According to Ms. Ky's experience, cassava is not difficult to grow, adapts to all types of cultivated land, including bare land, barren hills, infertile land, sloping land, as long as farmers plant at the right density, distance and pay attention to care according to the right techniques, it will bring high economic efficiency.

With 3 hectares of hill garden previously planted with crops of low economic efficiency, in recent years, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thanh's family in Yen Hoa village, Hoa Son commune has also switched to growing cassava for raw materials.
Mr. Thanh shared: For more than 5 years now, thanks to cassava, his family has escaped poverty and has a stable income. Currently, the family has harvested 1/3 of the area, over 70 tons of cassava tubers, with the current purchase price of 1,900 VND/kg at the field, after deducting expenses, his family earned over 100 million VND. Not only Mr. Thanh's family but also most of the farmers here are very excited, because cassava is purchased as soon as it is harvested.
Hoa Son is one of the localities with a large cassava growing area in Anh Son district. As a commune with favorable conditions for developing industrial cassava production, especially with a processing factory located in the area, in recent times, Hoa Son commune has had many solutions to develop cassava, considering it a key crop in the local agricultural structure.

Mr. Tran Quoc Khanh - Vice Chairman of Hoa Son Commune People's Committee said: In recent years, thanks to the factory purchasing raw materials and stable prices, farmers in Hoa Son commune have now developed 150 hectares of cassava, with an average yield of 22 tons/ha.
The entire Anh Son district currently has 1,940 hectares of cassava supplying the local cassava starch processing factory. Cassava is grown in large quantities in the communes of Tho Son, Binh Son, Thanh Son, Hoa Son, Tuong Son...
The period from October to the end of December is the harvest season. Currently, nearly 100% of the cassava area in Anh Son is high-yielding varieties. The average yield is estimated at 225.4 quintals/ha, the output is 33,590 tons, reaching 123% of the yearly plan, up 27% over the same period, each hectare of cassava brings in a profit of 35 to 40 million VND.
