Every year, in late winter and early spring, local people plant the ginseng. Thổ Hào ginseng is grown in rows similar to sweet potato rows, with plastic sheeting covering the rows to prevent weeds. Locals harvest ginseng manually, using hoes to dig around the base of the plants, then pulling up the roots by hand and shaking off the soil to extract the tubers. At this time of year, weeds grow profusely in the fields, making ginseng harvesting quite difficult. Photo: Huy Thu
