(Baonghean.vn) - The 2016 dry season is at its peak. This is also the time when people in many tea growing areas in Anh Son district are focusing on drought prevention for this key crop.
To prevent drought for 1 hectare of industrial tea area, Mr. Hong Ngoc Khuyen's family, Team 323, Dinh Son Commune, Anh Son District, hired workers to drill a well right in the tea garden. |
Along with drilling wells, Mr. Hong Ngoc Khuyen also invested in a mobile nozzle system. This system can be moved to where watering is needed. Each of these systems costs about 20 million VND. |
After half a day of watering, the nozzles were moved to another bed. |
The water pipes are made separate for easy movement. |
Dinh Son commune currently has 50 hectares of tea irrigated by an automatic system. |
Generators are also brought to the tea fields to pump water. |
In addition to watering with automatic nozzles, people in Anh Son district also use manual flood irrigation systems. Thanks to watering, many tea areas still grow well despite the harsh sunlight. |
Currently, the whole Anh Son district has 2,587 hectares of tea, however, due to the high cost of drilling wells and the sprinkler system, from 20 to 40 million VND, many Anh Son people are facing many difficulties in drought prevention for this key crop. |
