Farmers drill wells on the hillside to protect tea plants from drought.
(Baonghean.vn) - The 2016 dry season is at its peak. This is also the time when people in many tea-growing areas of Anh Son district are focusing their efforts on combating drought for this key crop.

| To combat drought affecting 1 hectare of industrial tea plantation, Mr. Hong Ngoc Khuyen's family, from Team 323, Dinh Son commune, Anh Son district, hired workers to drill a well right in the tea garden. |

| Along with drilling wells, Mr. Hong Ngoc Khuyen also invested in a mobile sprinkler system. This system can be moved to wherever irrigation is needed. Each system costs approximately 20 million VND. |

| In addition to using automatic sprinkler systems, people in Anh Son district also use manual flood irrigation methods. Thanks to this irrigation, even in intense sunlight, many tea plantations are still thriving. |

| Currently, Anh Son district has 2,587 hectares of tea plantations. However, due to the high cost of drilling wells and installing sprinkler systems (ranging from 20 to 40 million VND), many people in Anh Son are facing difficulties in combating drought for this key crop. |
