On the morning of May 8th, in Quynh Thach commune, Quynh Luu district, the Provincial Farmers' Association launched the movement "Farmers producing organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products".

The launching ceremony was chaired by Comrade Nguyen Quang Tung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association; also present were representatives from provincial departments and agencies and a large number of farmers' association members from Quynh Luu district.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the annual consumption of organic fertilizers for agricultural production in Nghe An province is approximately 80-90 thousand tons. However, the amount of organic microbial fertilizer produced by farmers themselves from agricultural by-products is only about 15-20 thousand tons/year (only 20% of the demand for fertilizers for agricultural production). Meanwhile, nearly 2 million tons of agricultural by-products from the production and processing of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products are not used for their intended purpose each year in Nghe An province.

This launch is one of the activities implementing the Project on Propaganda, Mobilization, and Guidance for Farmers to Produce Organic Microbial Fertilizers from Agricultural Waste and By-products in the Province during the 2023-2025 period.

This will create a strong shift among members of the Farmers' Association regarding the application of biological products in the production of organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products in the province. It will also foster awareness among members and farmers about actively collecting agricultural waste and by-products to produce organic microbial fertilizers and build a green, clean, and beautiful rural environment.

Accordingly, the goal is to ensure that at least 90% of members and farmers are informed about the policies, regulations, and benefits of using organic fertilizers in agricultural production and environmental protection each year. The target is to increase the rate of organic fertilizer use in agricultural production to approximately 10% by 2025.
