Nghe An farmers strive to produce 90,000 tons of organic microbial fertilizer

(Baonghean.vn) - Producing organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products is very necessary, helping to reduce production costs, improve productivity and crop quality, and minimize pollution of the rural environment.

On the morning of May 8, in Quynh Thach commune, Quynh Luu district, the Provincial Farmers' Association launched the movement "Farmers produce organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products".

The launching ceremony was chaired by comrade Nguyen Quang Tung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association; also attended by representatives of provincial departments and branches and a large number of farmers of Quynh Luu district.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, each year the consumption of organic fertilizers for agricultural production in Nghe An is about 80 - 90 thousand tons. However, the amount of organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural by-products produced by people is only about 15 - 20 thousand tons / year (only 20% of the demand for fertilizers for agricultural production). Meanwhile, each year in Nghe An province, nearly 2 million tons of agricultural by-products from the production and processing of agricultural, forestry and fishery products have not been used for the right purposes.

The launch is one of the activities to implement the Project on Propaganda, Mobilization, and Guidance for Farmers to Produce Organic Microbial Fertilizers from Agricultural Waste and By-Products in the Province for the period 2023-2025.

Thereby, creating a strong change for Farmers' Association members in applying biological products to produce organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products in the province. Forming awareness among members and farmers about actively collecting agricultural waste and by-products to produce organic microbial fertilizers and building a green - clean - beautiful rural environment.

Accordingly, strive to have 90% or more members and farmers be informed of policies, regulations and benefits of using organic fertilizers in agricultural production and environmental protection each year. Increase the rate of using organic fertilizers in agricultural production to about 10% by 2025.

By the end of 2025, at least 70% of Farmers' Association members will be instructed on methods of producing organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products; Members and farmers in the whole province will produce about 90,000 tons of organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade Nguyen Quang Tung - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association emphasized: "Promoting the role of the Farmers' Association in participating in the development of ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers, the Provincial Farmers' Association implements the Project of Propagating, mobilizing, and guiding farmers to produce organic microbial fertilizers from waste and by-products of agricultural production in the province for the period 2023-2025.

Accordingly, farmers' associations at all levels need to focus on and promote propaganda to raise farmers' awareness of the benefits of producing and using organic microbial fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products.

Equip knowledge on the production of microbial organic fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products for grassroots farmers' association officials to do propaganda work; Train farmers' association members on the process of producing microbial organic fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products; Organize field trips, study tours, exchange experiences and knowledge on models of producing microbial organic fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products in localities in the province; Build pilot models of producing microbial organic fertilizers from agricultural waste and by-products.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, the Provincial Farmers' Association coordinated with the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances and the Department of Science and Technology of Nghe An to organize training and practice on the process of applying biological products to treat agricultural waste and by-products to produce organic microbial fertilizers for officials and members of the Farmers' Association of Quynh Luu district.
