Farmers in Nghe An are delighted as rubber prices reach a new peak.
Currently, as the rubber tapping season draws to a close, farmers in Nghe An are delighted because rubber prices have peaked and remained high and stable for an extended period.
Rubber prices are rising steadily.

In the early days of spring, in Tan Long commune, Tan Ky district, people are actively harvesting rubber latex. Ms. Le Thi Lan, a rubber plantation owner in Tan Long commune, said: Her family currently has over 2 hectares of rubber trees. In 2023, there were times when they had to stop harvesting due to the extremely low price. However, from July 2024 until now, the price of rubber latex has suddenly increased continuously. From a price of only 13,000-15,000 VND/kg (fresh latex after processing), it has now increased to 23,000-25,000 VND/kg, reaching its peak as in the past.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Mao, Deputy Director of Song Con Agricultural Joint Stock Company, said: The company currently has over 700 hectares of rubber trees (owned by over 1,000 households), mainly concentrated in Tan Phu and Tan Long communes. Previously, due to low prices, the company only purchased 10-15 tons of latex per month. Because latex harvesting was not enough to cover labor costs, people stopped harvesting, and some even requested to switch from rubber trees to other crops such as sugarcane and acacia.

Currently, the price of rubber latex is high but stable, so local rubber farmers are very enthusiastic, and are therefore confidently taking care of their trees and fertilizing them to achieve high yields. In recent days, the factory has been operating at full capacity, reaching nearly 70 tons of latex per month. It is expected that in 2025, the processing company will sell 400 tons of finished rubber products (an increase of over 160 tons compared to last year).
In Nghia Dan district, people are actively finishing the rubber tapping season. Mr. Tran Van Tinh from Nghia Minh commune said: His family cultivates nearly 2.5 hectares of rubber trees, and with the current high price of latex, they earn 55-60 million VND per hectare. However, people hope that while rubber prices may increase, they also need stability to have additional income to improve their lives.
Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung, General Director of Nghe An Coffee and Rubber Company Limited, said: The company has over 1,800 hectares of rubber plantations, mainly concentrated in Nghia Dan district and Thai Hoa town. Previously, prices were low, but over the past 8 months, rubber prices have increased and stabilized.
The processing plant has a capacity of over 300 tons per month (producing over 1,200 tons of finished rubber). All production is sold immediately.

With rubber prices rising so high, rubber farmers are making profits and can confidently focus on caring for their plantations. Accordingly, Nghe An Coffee - Rubber Company Limited has instructed its technical staff to guide, inspect, and supervise the rubber tapping process, and advised people to concentrate on caring for their rubber plantations during and after the harvesting period.
According to our research, at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, there were times when rubber was in short supply, leading some traders to compete in Nghe An province to buy it. Mr. Nguyen Van Thuat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of 1/5 One-Member Limited Liability Company (Nghia Dan), said: "Our company has a rubber processing plant, but due to the limited area of raw materials, we cannot meet the needs of the rubber processing plant. Therefore, we have to buy rubber latex from Thanh Hoa province and other provinces at higher prices. Even so, it is still difficult to buy due to competition from many other traders. Therefore, this year's processing output is low, only 500 tons of finished rubber."
Investment is needed in a rubber latex deep processing plant.

Nghe An currently has over 10,000 hectares of rubber plantations, mainly concentrated in the districts of Anh Son, Nghia Dan, Tan Ky, and Que Phong, producing approximately over 6,500 tons of processed rubber annually. Although rubber prices in Nghe An are rising, there are still limitations, such as the fact that most of the machinery in rubber processing plants is too old, outdated, and therefore the product quality is not high.
Some shipments of rubber exported to other countries have been returned due to contamination. Most of the latex purchased by traders is processed at modern rubber processing plants in Quang Tri, Binh Duong, etc. After processing and sorting, it is usually exported to Europe, resulting in higher prices; after processing, it can be sold for over 36,000 VND/kg.
Therefore, to ensure the efficient development of rubber trees, in addition to focusing on intensive cultivation and improving the efficiency of existing plantations, Nghe An needs to attract investment projects in advanced rubber latex processing technology to improve the quality of latex products; priority should be given to building a large-scale factory to purchase and process raw latex for the entire province.
