Farmers in Nghe An province reap huge potato harvest success.

Abandoning traditional crops with low yields, farmers in Nghe An have switched to integrated potato farming, generating income 1.5 times higher than growing peanuts, corn, etc.

On average, Vietnam consumes nearly 1 million tons of potatoes annually, importing a large amount of raw potatoes from China, Australia, and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, in Nghe An province, while the area for winter crop production reaches tens of thousands of hectares, the potato cultivation area is only about 300 hectares per year. The climate and soil of the alluvial plains and coastal areas are very suitable for potato cultivation. Therefore, the linkage between the "four stakeholders" (farmers, businesses, scientists, and the government) to make potatoes a key crop needs attention. Photo: TP
